The Block host Scott Cam reveals major rule change ahead of new season: ‘We’ve never done this before’

For the first time in The Block’s history, teams will receive full production schedules at the start of the next season.

Long-serving host Scott Cam shared the big rule change this week while speaking to 2DAY FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin.

“We showed them the whole schedule — we’d never done that before,” he began.

“But it’s such a big building that we thought: we should inform them so that they can make plans for the future.”

Cam also revealed that the contestants received an artist’s rendering of each house before starting construction.

It comes after the production schedule took center stage during The Block in 2021 to a huge scandal.

Contestant Tanya Guccione was caught taking a photo of a printed schedule in Scot’s office before sending it to some of the other teams.

Seeing the schedule gave an advantage, as it allowed preparations to be made prior to room reveals and challenge days.

Last month, Cam set the record straight about rumors that he plans to retire from Nine’s hit renovation show at the end of the year.

The host attended a launch party for the upcoming season of his show and told the audience that he plans to stay for a long time.

“Two months ago I signed a multi-year contract with The Nine Network. It was an easy decision because I love this show and couldn’t think of going anywhere else,” he told Daily Mail Australia.

Scott only recently battled rumors that he would be leaving the show after this season. pictured

Cam then said, while he had no immediate retirement plans, when that day came in the distant future, he had the perfect person in mind to take over as host.

“I think the only person who can do it is my current co-host Shelley Craft, that’s right,” he said.

Cam added that the upcoming season would provide gripping entertainment for viewers, with a mix of heartwarming and heated moments.

“It’s a friendly bloc, but there’s hidden controversy everywhere, it bubbles away until it reaches a head. It’s very exciting,” he said.
