The Block drops first trailer for new season – but fans are quick to point out one major mistake in the promo: ‘Careful you’ll set off the Victorians’
Season 20 of Channel Nine’s hit reality series The Block will hit TV screens in August.
A teaser trailer for the anticipated series offered the first glimpse of the five teams that would compete in the highly anticipated series, set on Phillip Island in Victoria.
The preview starts with host Scott Cam and Shelly Craft in a helicopter heading to a lush island, before teasing the participating couples.
“I’m telling you, this is going to be the best,” Cam teases. ‘Shell, this year. I’m taking this in a completely new direction.’
Once the duo lands, Craft asks, “Where are we, Scotty?” To which he replies, “Paradise.”
The voiceover describes the location as a “land like no other,” as Scotty says, “Welcome to Block Island.”
“It’s an adventure twenty years in the making… for the first time, The Block is pure paradise,” the voiceover adds, before later adding the line “The Aussie dream goes tropical.”
Fans were quick to point out on social media that Phillip Island is far from a tropical paradise.

“Be careful, you’re driving away the Victorians,” wrote a third.
Meanwhile, a Phillip Island resident added: “I love the hype, but as a Phillip Island resident, it’s not tropical here.”
