The Block’s Dan Reilly and Dani Wales grieve the loss of their baby daughter and share heartbreaking post following her death
The Block stars Dan Reilly and Dani Wales have shared a heartbreaking message following the tragic death of their daughter.
The reality TV couple took to Instagram just before Christmas to share the news that their newborn daughter Billie Vera Reilly had passed away at just 10 days old.
The couple shared another emotional tribute to their beloved daughter via Instagram this week as they continue to mourn her devastating loss.
They posted separate photos of themselves with baby Billie as they talked about the “happy memories” they had with her before her death.
Dan, who serves as a foreman at The Block, shared a photo of him and Dani smiling as they made footprint molds of Billie while she was in the hospital.
In an accompanying caption, Dan emotionally shared that being a father to Billie has taught him more than he’s ever learned in his entire life.

“One of the many wonderful moments we spent with our precious Billie,” he wrote.
‘Although it was short, we have so many wonderful memories. Billie has taught me more about life in 10 days than I have in 41 years on this planet. She is the gift I am so grateful for.
“Her mother and my wife @dani_wales were so inspiring to see the love and strength she gave and continues to give to our family every day.”
Dan encouraged people to make a donation in honor of Billie to the Royal Women’s Hospital through their in memoriam fundraising page.
“We are so grateful to be able to have these memories and it wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing efforts of the @theroyalwomens NICU,” he added.
‘If you’re in a position to donate to @theroyalwomens, click the link in my bio.’
The fundraiser has already raised $21,229 for the NICU consultants, nurses and staff at the hospital.
On Sunday, Dani also posted a black and white photo of the two of them with Billie, as she shared that she will talk about her beloved daughter “forever.”

She wrote: ‘Recently we got some film photography back from the beautiful @mrskevinsphotos from our little family photo shoot we did with our Billie girl.
“Every moment captured with her is so phenomenal and our walls will soon be covered, but I keep coming back to this one.
‘Staring again and again at its perfection. Our family, so happy, forgetting everything else for a moment (even Billie’s best nurse Cathy, who knelt below us holding tubes) and just holding each other.
‘Everything in life brought us to that moment of pure bliss with our most magical and beautiful creation yet.
“Despite never seeing our faces or making a sound, finding the strength to give us the time we had with her and the chance to hold her and experience this feeling was all she had to do. She is everything.
“We will talk about her forever and do incredible things to make a difference in her honor, and make sure everyone knows who Billie Reilly is.”
The heartbroken couple announced on Instagram on December 20 that Billie had passed away at ten days old.
They posted a photo of themselves with their arms around each other as they stood by their daughter’s bed in the hospital.

In tribute, Dani shared her “insurmountable” grief and said she and Dan both feel “honored” to be Billie’s parents.
They wrote: ‘Billie Vera Reilly 8/12/24 – 18/12/24. It is with insurmountable sadness that we share the news that our daughter Billie, just 10 days old, has passed from this life to the next.
“In Billie’s short time in this world, she has taught us an intensity of both love and pain that we never thought possible. She taught us what really matters.
‘Billie was so wanted, so loved and she made us parents… and what an honor it is to be her mum and dad. She will always be our daughter.
“We are clear that Billie was far too good for this world, but if there is one thing we know for certain, it is that Billie’s legacy will have an impact greater than any of us.
‘Thank you @mrskevinsphotos for taking such beautiful family photos for us and also to @heartfelt_ausnz for capturing many of Billie’s firsts.
‘We would like to give a special shout out to ‘Billie’s Besties’ at @theroyalwomens – the nurses, doctors and staff in the NICU are some of the most incredible people to walk this earth and we will be forever grateful for the care and love they gave us girl, and us.

The couple first gained national attention when they appeared on the 2012 series The Block, where they took home second place and $448,000 in winnings.
Dani signed off her post by asking for privacy and telling their followers that they will share more about Billie’s story in the future.
“Finally, we understand that there will be questions, and many answers we do not yet have answers to,” she added.
“We will share more in due course, but for now we ask for privacy as we process this together and with our loved ones.
‘You look so beautiful, beautiful as the sun. I could watch forever, while you shine on everyone.” We love you, Billie.’
Dan and Dani had announced in a post on Instagram in July that they were expecting their first child together.
