Countdown at Coles as The Block billionaire Adrian Portelli prepares to hand out $150,000 to Sydney shoppers for FREE

Christmas will come early for hundreds of shoppers camping outside a Coles supermarket in Sydney’s west as billionaire Adrian Portelli prepares to hand out $150,000.

The 35-year-old entrepreneur will give $150,000 worth of Coles vouchers to 1,000 Australian families on Tuesday.

He made the announcement on his social media and confirmed the location on Monday.

The first giveaway will take place at 9.30am at the Coles linked to Nepean Village on Reserve Street, Penrith.

The action then shifts to Coles on Hamilton Road in Fairfield West at 12pm.

“The safety of our team member and our customers is our priority during this generous giveaway, which is why we have deployed additional security to ensure the gift voucher queue is properly managed,” a Coles spokeswoman said in a statement.

Hundreds of people are already lining up at the stores to see it and those who are lucky enough will score a $100 or $200 voucher from Portelli.

“It shows how desperate people are in these times and we are happy to help,” he said last month.

“Many of these people have supported me over the past year, so it’s time to give back.”

Adrian is the founder of the online company LCMT+ which regularly gives away large cash prizes, luxury cars and offers its members discounted products at retailers.

The car enthusiast made international headlines when he had a rare $3 million McClaren hoisted to his $39 million Melbourne penthouse in May last year.

He is also a regular on The Block, appearing on the show every year at auctions and regularly buying houses.

However, he announced that this year would be his last season on the renovation show.

In 2022, he offered $4.8 million for Omar and Oz’s Gisborne South home during the final bidding on The Block.

“I was pretty quiet at the time, so no one really knew what I was worth or how much money I had,” he said.

‘People thought I couldn’t afford the house. Of course I knew I could buy all the houses.’

Portelli grew up in Melbourne’s western suburbs and made his fortune through tech start-ups.

He has a diverse business portfolio reportedly worth $1 billion, and now turns over about $100 million a year, or $2 million a week.

The infamous Block bidder has spent a whopping $39 million for its property in Melbourne, the heart of the CBD, in a new twin-tower development.

He is currently spending $6 million modifying and customizing the 1,200-square-foot heavenly home.

The businessman told realestate.com.au he decided to buy the apartment the same day he saw it because of “the security” and because it was a “blank canvas”.

He also admitted that a selling point was the penthouse’s direct connection to the second tower, which will house a five-star Shangri-La hotel.

The hotel features a bar with a see-through floor and a bridge connecting the two high-level towers.

“It shows how desperate people are in these times and we are happy to help,” he said last month. “Many of these people have supported me over the past year, so it's time to give back.”

“I have an elevator from my apartment that goes straight to the bar,” Portelli said.

Portelli, known for his high spending and lavish lifestyle, shares his 10-month-old son Mercy with girlfriend Karlie Butler.

The unique name pays tribute to one of the first luxury cars Portelli purchased: a rare orange Lamborghini Murcielago valued at over $700,000.

Portelli and Butler have been together for more than a year and met at a bar.
