The Block auction day: Shocking scenes unfold as a woman collapses midway through bidding for Steph and Gian’s property

There were dramatic scenes at The Block’s auction day in Melbourne on Saturday.

A woman in her mid-30s fainted and fell to the ground halfway through the auction in front of Steph and Gian’s property.

Two doctors and a nurse, who watched the auction from the street, rushed to provide treatment before an ambulance was called and the woman was taken to hospital for further treatment.

A security guard on site explained that the woman had suddenly collapsed halfway through the auction, initially causing alarm that the drama of the event may have caused a heart attack.

However, it later became clear that the woman had an existing health condition that caused her to collapse.

The five houses of The Block in Melbourne’s Hampton East will go under the hammer this weekend.

But one team from this year’s series is fuming ahead of the renovations’ final sale.

Blockheads Eliza and Liberty have declared that they will not walk away with the big money on auction day.

The couple are furious because they believe the reserve price for their property, House 5, has been set too high.

“There’s just no way we’re going to win,” Eliza said Friday.

‘Because it’s just unrealistically high. And compared to the others. As if they (the other participants) should all be very happy.’

Eliza made the comments during a performance Jase & Lauren from KIIS 101.1.

Liberty, who joined Eliza for the radio interview, teased that she expected Steph and Gian to win.

‘Yes. But look, Steph and Gian have about 657 buyers on their house. They are such scammers.

“But yeah, I mean, they actually deserve it for making a fuss. We just don’t do that,” she said.

While teasing the pair’s battle with Kristy and Brett throughout the season, Liberty added that the friends wouldn’t be happy if “some of the other houses won.”

Eliza interrupted him, however, sounding as if she was now willing to put aside any old issues the pair had with the other Blockheads.

‘No, we wouldn’t be angry (if the others won). Can I just say that I have turned over a new leaf. I can’t give anything away, but there was a moment,” Eliza said.

The reserve prices for the auction are kept secret just before bidding begins.

But the sale price of Eliza and Liberty’s House 5 is advertised at $2,800,000 – $3,000,000, which is the market value for comparable properties.
