The Block 2024: Channel Nine drops new trailer promising lots of drama in 20th anniversary season – as they introduce the five teams competing on Phillip Island

Channel Nine has released a dramatic new trailer for the upcoming season of the hit re-imagined series The Block.

The highly anticipated 20th anniversary series is expected to air late next month, after filming began in Phillip Island in April.

The network has ramped up the excitement for the series by releasing a brand new trailer officially introducing the five teams competing in the series.

Their differing personalities are likely to clash as the new cast undoubtedly adds extra drama to the exciting home renovation competition.

The trailer opens with a look at the brand new Blockhead couples and shows what they have to offer this time around.

“Get ready to meet your new Blockhead couples. They’re about to find out that the biggest Block ever is no holiday,” the voiceover begins.

Next up, we see the Red Team, made up of married couple Courtney and Grant, who tell the camera that they are “more friends than romantic people.”

Grant then cheekily responds, “I hope you’re not sleeping with your mates,” a candid insight into their quirky sense of humor.

Mimi from the Purple Team then tells the camera how ‘we all have our husbands by the balls’, to which her shocked husband Kristian replies: ‘That’s not true’.

Mimi assures him she’s just joking, as she gives him a piercing look into the camera.

Yellow Team best friends Ricky and Haydn then tell 48-year-old show host Shelley Craft about their shocking strategy that won them the show. They confess: ‘We just do it on a whim.’

The footage was shared to The Block’s Instagram and fans were quick to take to the comments to express their excitement.

“Yes! Can’t wait,” one person wrote, with a second adding, “The biggest Block ever!”

It’s shaping up to be an absolutely thrilling season, packed with the Channel Nine show’s signature combination of suspense and fun moments.

Purple Team’s Kristian and Mimi are no strangers to the spotlight after the couple went viral on TikTok for their 2023 Disney wedding in Adelaide.

It was already announced that the duo will create the drama series in honor of the 20th anniversary season.

A source told Yahoo Lifestyle: “The feeling is we’ve bought a lot of money into these two and we’re just waiting for it to explode.”

And the landmark series has already been hit by problems, with Jesse and Paige from Western Australia’s Blue Team reportedly quitting after just five weeks of filming.

The shocking decision is said to have been made by the duo themselves and it is claimed that they will be replaced by another enthusiastic duo in the 2024 series.

Also joining the cast are Queenslanders Kylie and Brad Vines, who are part of the Green Team.

The new series of The Block was filmed earlier this year on Phillip Island, a popular tourist attraction in Victoria.

Ny Breaking Australia reports that a Channel Nine company has purchased Island Cove Villas on the Victorian island for a whopping $9.5 million.

The site is a two and a half hour drive from Melbourne and currently comprises nine homes, a communal swimming pool, barbecue pavilion, tennis court and children’s playground.

The upcoming season, called Block Island, will air on Channel Nine after the Olympic Games on August 11.
