The Block 2023: Debate rages online after a fan proposes a bizarre rule change
A Facebook fan has sparked an intense online debate after they proposed a bizarre rule change for The Block.
Instead of following the current format where each group of contestants finish their house, the viewer tells the Blockheads to switch houses halfway through the series.
Contestants then receive a score on the houses as they complete them.
After the fan posted the strange proposal to a Facebook fan site, viewers labeled the suggestion as “unfair” and “cruel.”
However, other fans found the suggestion worthwhile and “interesting”, especially as the current season of the Channel Nine hit was labeled “too easy” by some followers after new rules were announced.

A “great idea,” said one fan of the proposed format change, while another agreed:
“That would be an interesting watch!”
One fan commented, “That would be so cruel…but I like it.”
Still, there were others on the fan site, who thought the format twist wouldn’t work and took the opportunity to throw shade at some of the current contestants
“I would leave immediately if I was stuck with house two or three, they need a lot of work to be ready for market,” said one fan.
“I would feel sorry for those who took Leah and Ash’s house,” another viewer agreed.
Still, a fan on the Facebook site appeared to mock any proposed format change, suggesting the Blockheads should “swap partners” and be given the chance to vote “off” against the Survivor-style contestants .

It comes after recent fans and former contestants attacked The Block last month after the reality hit announced new rules for contestants.
Blockheads will receive their entire $250,000 budget upfront this year, as well as their full schedule.
In addition, host Scott Cam said contestants get access to electricians and plumbers on site, with the tradies paid upfront.
After Channel Nine announced the changes on Instagram, former Block stars Kirsty Lee Akers and Jesse Anderson slammed the new rules.
“This year’s block is a walk in the park!” wrote the pair on The Block’s bulletin board.
“This would have been great to have, oh and the roof/walls and bed to sleep in look great too,” they continued.

Fans joined in to throw shade at the new rules.
‘The participants had it easy this year!’ wrote one viewer.
Another added, “Why don’t we just build it for them?” The Block is a long way from where it started. It’s all about styling.’
“I have a feeling competitors from last season will look at this season and think it’s much easier than previous seasons,” another fan added.
