One of the most recognizable members of the Georgian football program has four paws in the team’s live bulldog mascot, Uga, who has his own dog den on the sidelines of Sanford Stadium in Athens.
Uga XI, whose real name is Boom, is in his second season as the Bulldogs’ live mascot but will miss this weekend’s mega-clash on the road against Texas.
The bizarre reason behind that reportedly has nothing to do with a previous Uga’s near-death encounter with the Longhorns’ live mascot Bevo the last time the teams played in 2019.
Uga’s owner, Charles Seiler, said the reason for this is because his pup is “very young and immature and crazy as hell,” according to the newspaper. Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Seiler added that Georgia’s newest live mascot has yet to be on a plane or bus, a necessary part of the journey from Athens to Austin.

Seiler directly denied that his dog won’t make the trip because Bevo attacked Uga X, Boom’s father Que, on New Year’s Day in New Orleans five years ago.
Some college football fans on social media didn’t believe the excuse.
“Bro didn’t want the smoke,” said one user on X.
The average longhorn handlebar weighs between 1,400 and 2,500 pounds, while male English bulldogs, Uga’s breed, weigh about 55 pounds. That’s quite the story of the tape.
The Bulldogs playing the Longhorns on the gridiron is the biggest college football game of the weekend and a possible preview for the Southeastern Conference championship game or a College Football Playoff showdown.
Either way, a possible tragic reunion of the mascots will have to wait for another time.
