The biggest reveals from Xbox Developer Direct

Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks showed off what’s coming to Xbox and PC this year during a new Xbox Developer Direct on Wednesday. In addition to the promised revelations surrounding the Indiana Jones game from MachineGames and that of Obsidian Entertainment Grantedalso brought a few surprises to the Xbox team.

Here’s a look at the biggest news from the latest Xbox showcase, in case you can’t watch the event in full.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle revealed

Wolfenstein developer MachineGames and Bethesda Softworks have unveiled their new game based on the Indiana Jones franchise, an original adventure called Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark And The Last Crusade, The Great Circle sends Indy on a globe-trotting adventure to solve an unraveling mystery.

Indy is joined on his adventure by a new character, Gina, an investigative journalist. His main opponent? A villain named Emmerich Voss, who appears to be looking for the same artifact as Dr. Jones.

MachineGames showed off plenty of gameplay, including first-person whipping and gunfights, puzzle solving at ancient temples, and death-defying stunts. At one point in the gameplay, Indy jumps from the wings of one biplane to another, later scaling a zeppelin. Indy’s signature bullwhip can be used for passage, as well as as a weapon or means of distracting enemies.

Obsidian shows off its new RPG, Avowed

pillars of eternity And The outside worlds studio Obsidian Entertainment showed off gameplay from its new first-person, fantasy action role-playing game Granted, which illustrates how players will use a variety of melee weapons, firearms, and magical spells as they adventure through the Living Lands. Obsidian spoke Granted‘s combat, which promises not only hacking and slashing, but also real-time tactical decisions on how to fight enemies.

That decision-making will also extend to the story. Obsidian showed off character interactions that will be familiar to players from the studios Fallout: New Vegas; it also showcased the diverse “rich, strange and beautiful” region of the Living Lands. Obsidian showcased the diversity of its vibrant and dull, green and sickly, culturally rich world, which players will explore later this year.

Granted also has a new release date: Fall 2024. The game is coming to Windows PC and Xbox Series

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 gets a release date

Developer Ninja Theory offered another deep dive into the highly anticipated sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s sacrificerevealing more about Senua’s journey within Hellblade 2. Their new game sends our heroine to Iceland, where the harsh environment, extensive combat mechanics, and binaural and spatial audio will complement Senua’s story.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 coming to Windows PC and Xbox Series X on May 21st and launching day one on Game Pass.

Ara: History Untold’s Historical Grand Strategy

It looks like Oxide Games is going to deliver its historic grand strategy game Ara: Untold History apart from the world’s civilizations with a few notable tweaks: a procedurally generated Earth, a crafting system set on a national scale, and unique leaders who master the full range of military tactics, thought pioneers and scientific prodigies who will guide nations to prestige.

Ara: Untold History coming to PC sometime this fall.

A surprising look at Visions of Mana

Square Enix’s Mana team made a surprise appearance for a closer look Visions of Mana, the action role-playing game coming to PC and consoles this summer. In addition to cute and terrifying classic Mana monsters, the developers also showed off the player’s new animal friend – designed by Mana series veteran Koichi Ishii – and a host of colorful gameplay.

In addition to Xbox Series Visions of Mana coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
