The Fast and Furious franchise has been around for over 20 years now and has come a long and winding road to becoming the international box office juggernaut as we know it today.
But perhaps the only thing more confusing than how Dom, Letty, Brian and the rest of the crew went from street racers, petty crooks and cops to global super spies is the order in which you should actually watch these movies. After the release of Fast Xthe series will have 10 main entries, two with the same name and several with completely different kinds of names, and a spin-off movie.
But don’t worry, we’re here to help guide you through the franchise quarter mile at a time, and if you’re a Fast franchise veteran who already knows the timeline, we’ve even got another suggestion on how you can mix your rewatch ahead of the franchise’s penultimate (probably?) entry:
Where can you watch the Fast and Furious movies on streaming
Before we get into the possible watch orders, it’s important to understand where they all stream.
The franchise’s first eight entries are available to DirecTV subscribers. The first five entries, as well as Furious 7, are available on TNT and TBS (the first movie is only on TNT). Furious 7 And F9 streaming on Peacock, and F9 also streams on HBO Max. The spinoff Hobbs & Shaw is only available through VOD providers like Amazon, Apple TV, Google Play and Vudu – and the rest of the movies are available on those platforms as well.
Watch Fast and Furious movies in order of release
Here’s the easiest way to watch these movies – the order they were originally released. On the one hand, this is a semi-logical progression of a story and gives a nice idea of how the series has expanded over the years. As an added bonus, it’s also a lot of fun watching these things get more and more ridiculous with every turn – and watching the crew go from amping up A/V equipment to stealing nuclear submarines still gets just as hilarious and weird to see them like this when they’ve seen them in theaters years apart.

Watch Fast and Furious movies in chronological order
This one is a little thin considering all the retcons, flashbacks, and CGI scene additions over the years, but we’ll do our best. Aside from the flashback of Dom and his brother Jacob out F9, the only major change in this order fits in The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift in the middle of the sixth and seventh entries, because that’s technically when it happens in canon. Other than that, this is quite similar to the release sequence, but at least it makes a little more sense.

Watch Fast and Furious movies in “flashback order”
Now we’re really mixing things up. This order tries to understand the shoddy continuity (complementary) that has held this franchise together and license Justin Lin and Vin Diesel for increasingly absurd stunts – especially in the last decade.
To begin with, we have to justify the fact that this crew is known for their daring espionage and robbery, so we’ll start with Fast and furious And Fast 5. Next, it’s time to get a little backstory on how this crew came together. Finally, we kick things into high gear with some of the crew’s most high-profile jobs, as well as a storyline about Han and Shaw, which will remain a plot thread until Fast X, where it has been teased, the two could meet.
This sequence shakes things up for veteran Fast viewers and slightly reshape the way the series tells stories. However, it’s crucial that it retains just enough structure to avoid feeling totally random.
