A script for the upcoming sequel to The Batman is in the works.
The director of the superhero feature, Matt Reeves, has just signed a first-look deal with Warner Bros. with the studio owning all the rights to his future projects for a set period of years.
According to Deadline, the filmmaker’s lineup includes the forthcoming sequel to the blockbuster, which starred Robert Pattinson as the titular caped crusader.

The director, who is working on the script with Mattson Tomlin, also issued a statement to express that ‘making this legendary studio my home is a dream.’
He added: ‘I am so excited…to bring captivating stories I am truly passionate about to the big and small screen.’
A sequel to The Batman was confirmed to have been in the works at CinemaCon this past April, when it was revealed that Pattinson and Reeves would return to work on the project.
Plot details and a potential release date are currently being withheld from the public.

Colin Farrell, who portrayed The Penguin in the movie, is set to return as the supervillain in a spinoff series set ‘a little short time’ after the film’s events.
The 46-year-old actor previously teased the HBO Max series about ‘what made him the man he is.’
He told Entertainment Tonight: ‘They are still early in the process of creating this world. ‘We have to get into what made him the man he is.’

The performer expressed that the show ‘will pick up where this film finished off I think. I think it’ll pick up a little short time after the last frame of this film.’
The In Bruges star also gave the media outlet a bit of information about the project’s storyline.
‘We’ll get to go on a little kind of left turn off to the world of Oz and how he’s beginning to kind of dream of filling a potential power vacuum that may exist,’ he said.

Although the project is still being developed, Farrell was delighted about the idea of the spinoff because he found it ‘so much fun’ to play The Penguin and loves the thought of investigating where his alter ego’s vulnerabilities are.
He described the supervillain as a ‘lovely character’ and expressed that ‘his violence is apparent.’
The actor added that his character’s ‘propensity for violence and his ability to use it as a tool is apparent, but [also] to see we all have soft spots. Every single person. And to be able to find that location, dig around it would be fun.’
