The Bachelor’s Matty ‘J’ Johnson reveals why this common parenting ‘fail’ is actually the best thing for his family with Laura Byrne: ‘We’re totally fine with that’

Matty ‘J’ Johnson opens up about why a common parenting ‘failure’ is actually the best thing for his family.

The former Bachelor star (36) and his wife Laura Byrne (38) have revealed that they allow their two daughters – Marlie-Mae (5) and Lola (3) – to share their bed.

And despite the widespread belief that it leads to a restless night, Matty has found the opposite to be true.

“There is definitely a narrative that you shouldn’t let your kids sleep with you,” the reality star explained to news.com.au on Thursday.

“We wake up almost every morning with both kids in bed, and we’re fine with that,” he told the publication.

“It means everyone sleeps a lot better, rather than having a screaming child dragged back into bed,” he continued.

This comes after the reality star revealed that sharing his parenting failures on social media actually makes him feel better.

He told Nine Honey that raising his two daughters was “an endless list of failures.”

“There’s nothing that makes me feel more normal and less like a total failure than telling a story about a struggle with parenthood,” he said.

Matty gave examples such as: ‘trying to wean off the pacifier, failed sleep routines or my child hating me’.

“Other parents reach out to me, on social media or in person, and say, ‘I have the same problem!’” he says, and that reassures him.
