Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi, revealed the nickname her son gets from his teammate Travis Kelce.
While leading the Kansas City Chiefs to back-to-back titles, the three-time Super Bowl MVP also excelled at building strong bonds with his teammates off the field.
Speak with PEOPLERandi revealed that Kelce affectionately nicknamed her “Mama Mahomes” and uses it whenever they meet. She also spoke candidly about the family atmosphere at Arrowhead Stadium and the sense of community between Patrick and his teammates.
“It almost feels like a little family, you know. I love that,” Randi told the publication. “I love meeting the Chiefs players because you don’t always get to meet all of them.”
Aside from scoring 71 touchdowns in 111 games between them, Mahomes and Kelce’s off-field friendship is well-documented. After winning the Super Bowl in Las Vegas earlier this year, the pair enjoyed celebrating in Sin City.

Additionally, Patrick and his wife Brittany were recently spotted with Kelce at his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert in Amsterdam.
As Kelce and Swift’s high-profile relationship continues to make headlines, Mahomes revealed the role he played in bringing the two together.
“I like to take some of the credit,” Mahomes said on the Pat McAfee show. “I was the one who invited Travis to the first Taylor concert when the friendship bracelet [idea came up]. He was in my suite, so I felt like I was the matchmaker.’
“I had some input into it too,” he said of his teammate asking Swift out. “I was like, ‘Dude, you just gotta do it. Just do it.’ And you know Travis, man. He does it. He’s a great guy. I’m glad it all worked out.”

Before Mahomes announced the news of Brittany’s pregnancy with their third child, her character was praised by head coach Andy Reid at the 2024 ESPYs.
When Reid accepted the trophy for best male athlete on his behalf, he expressed his admiration for Mahomes.
“Listen, I’m honored to be here and accept this award for Patrick,” Reid said. “I’ve been with this kid for two years now and it’s been phenomenal to watch him grow as a football player, as a teammate and as a leader.”
Mahomes also won the ESPY for Best NFL Player.
