The 2-year-old girl from Seattle is mauled by a German Shepherd at the city’s famous Pike Place Market

A toddler suffered a deep cut on her face after being mauled by a German Shepherd she was allowed to pet at Seattle’s famous Pike Place food market.

Harlow Loren was injured and traumatized after Monday’s incident when she saw the unleashed animal with its female owner.

The dog’s owner, who has not yet been identified, told the little girl that her pup was “friendly,” Harlow’s mother LoRee Loren told KOMO.

But when little Harlow started petting the animal, it smashed its teeth into her face. After Loren managed to free her from the animal’s clutches, she called 911 — claiming the dog’s owner fled the scene before help could arrive.

She let my daughter pet her dog and told us it was friendly. She didn’t pay any attention to her dog at all and blamed my daughter when her dog attacked her in the face,” said the shocked mother.

Emergency services helped the injured girl before she was taken to hospital.

The tearful mother spoke ABC4 News after her daughter was released from the hospital.

“My daughter was petting this dog nicely, she was being watched, and then all of a sudden the dog attacked.”

Although the little girl didn’t need any stitches, she said she was given antibiotics to prevent her eye from getting an infection.

The Seattle Police Department was unavailable when DailyMail.com contacted them about new developments.

Loren, who visited from Thurston County, Washington, said it was her daughter’s first time at the Pike Place Market.

She is now pleading for the dog and its owner to come forward.

Earlier this week, she posted photos of her daughter’s injured face on Facebook and asked to share the news with the hashtag

Share again for those who come to my page to share because the news blurred her photo with the hashtag #JusticeForHarlowTravee.

“I’m trying to find this lady and her dog. Today at the Pike Market Seattle,” she wrote on her Facebook.

“She ran off, there are witnesses, CCTV. Police and animal protection are looking for her and have started a case.’

“If you know who this is or have any information, please contact the Seattle Police Department and Animal Control Officer Cantu. My daughter is traumatized,” she said in part.

“Please share to help spread the word as groups in Seattle REFUSE to let me post to get community help.”

A public market established in 1907, Pike Place Market is home to hundreds of independent businesses, local farmers, artists, artisans, and restaurants.

It is known as one of America’s top foodie hotspots and was the site of the first Starbucks store.

The legendary market is Seattle’s most popular tourist destination and is the 33rd most visited tourist attraction in the world with more than 10 million visitors per year.

No pets are allowed in the market’s buildings, including the main gallery, only trained service animals, according to the website.
