Gavin Newsom has questioned the relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, while also taking a stab at the GOP debate.
The California governor made the comments Wednesday while attending the Republican debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.
In a brief interview with CBS News, Newsom dismissed the debate as a “vice presidential debate at its finest.”
Seven candidates qualified for the debate stage: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, former Vice President Mike Pence, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Governor of North Dakota. Before the debate, Newsom said, “I really mean this, this is a vice presidential debate at best. This is the JV team. Donald Trump is running away with this.”

Seven candidates met the Republican National Committee’s increased qualifications to participate in the second primary debate
The governor continued, “Not just a double-digit lead, forty plus percent in a poll out today. This is the XFL, it’s entertainment I guess.
“I’m here to witness it, watch it, but I’m also here to call out the BS and the disinformation and make the case for Biden’s record again.”
Trump skipped the event and instead spoke to union auto industry workers in suburban Detroit — starting an hour before the debate.
Trump has suggested he could bypass all primary debates, noting that the events are beneath his level as no candidate can reach his voting level.
On Monday, during a campaign stop in Summerville, South Carolina, the ex-president called the Republican primary debates “stupid.”
‘It’s actually a job interview. Just watch the debates, it’s a job interview, and so far I’m not that interested,” he said at a campaign field office.
Newsom not only focused on the debate, but also commented on the new romance surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
A TMZ reporter asked the governor, “Taylor Swift is dating Travis Kelce, what’s your opinion?”
Smiling cheerfully, Newsom replied, “I know that’s really all people are talking about, they’re not going to tune into the debate.
“That’s the real debate: Is it real, isn’t it?”

Their new romance has stunned the world this week, but until earlier today neither of the two had publicly discussed the situation after they were spotted leaving Arrowhead Stadium together in his vintage convertible.
He speaks with his brother Jason about the latest episode of their popular film New heights podcast, Travis has now finally broken his silence and addressed “the roller coaster of life,” saying, “Shout out to Taylor for quitting. That was pretty rowdy.
“I just loved that everyone in the suite had only good things to say about her. The friends and family. She looked great, everyone talked about her in a great light.
‘Plus, the day went perfectly for Chiefs fans. We script it all, ladies and gentlemen. It was just impressive.”
Taylor went viral all afternoon and evening after being pictured with Donna Kelce, as the pair laughed and chatted throughout the match.
‘To see the slow motion chest bumps, to see the high fives with mom, to see the Chiefs kingdom all excited that she was there, that s*** was absolutely hysterical, it was definitely a game I will remember, that’s for sure,” Travis added. “And then we ended up just sneaking off in the getaway car…”
“Shout out to Taylor for coming over and seeing me rocking out on stage.”
The days since have been something of a whirlwind for Travis and Taylor, with the entire world desperate for more information about their romance, like Newsom.

In images obtained by TMZSwift was spotted cuddling with her new boyfriend and lovingly putting her arm around him at a private party at Prime Social in Kansas City, Missouri.
After the match, the pair – who reportedly started dating in July – enjoyed a late-night ‘affectionate’ dinner and a night out until 2am.
The couple also reportedly paid for everyone’s dinner in order to clear out the restaurant and have some privacy for themselves.
“Travis bought the restaurant for his family and team,” an eyewitness had previously said Entertainment tonight.

Despite publicly revealing their romance during the game and spending the weekend together, a source said Swift and her new boyfriend are “not rushing into anything serious” but are instead “enjoying life together.”
“Both are very career-oriented, so that’s where the focus is for now,” the source added. “But that won’t stop them from enjoying life when it’s the right time.”

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs she sings,” he said at the time.
“I was a little hurt because I couldn’t give her one of the bracelets I made for her,” he continued.
