Texas woman tells how a speeding car flew a huge sliver of metal through her front AND back window, nearly killing her
- Megan Lahoun was driving along the Eastex Freeway near the Highway 242 exit when her windshield was hit by a flying metal object identified as part of a motorcycle
- Her dashcam camera captured video of two vehicles weaving in and out of traffic at high speed, cutting out in front of her before the incident
- The windshield of Lahoun’s jeep was shattered and, although injured, she said she “grabbed the steering wheel with death” and managed to drive home.
A Texas woman shared her near-death experience after a speeding car sent a huge sliver of metal through her front and rear windows, nearly killing her.
Megan Lahoun was driving her white Jeep Wrangler solo on Friday along the Eastex Freeway listening to music on the radio when she noticed through her rearview mirror two vehicles veering at high speed in and out of traffic near the Highway 242 exit.
During the drive she saw a pickup truck speeding past her and seconds later another car, a Toyota RAV4, drove in front of her. Within seconds, flying debris and what appeared to be a part of a car’s engine flew straight into Lahoun’s path and hit her windshield.
The metal object, which appeared to be part of a motorcycle and weighed more than 12 pounds, shattered the windshield, knocking over her dashcam camera before passing through the rear window and landing in the back of her truck.
Lahoun, who suffered injuries to her face and upper body, recounted KHOU news she “grabbed the wheel with death and drove home as best I could.” It was reminiscent of the 2003 horror movie Final Destination 2, when logs falling from an 18-wheeler smashed through the windshields of cars, decapitating the drivers and causing a huge, deadly pile-up.

After the terrifying ordeal, she told the news outlet that she “didn’t realize how much I was shaking until I got to a stop light in Splendora. My foot was just shaking.’
She said the vehicles “traversed three lanes of traffic.”
Images of the interior of her car show shards of glass on Lahoun’s lap and on the floor and seat of her car.
‘It’s in my mouth. There’s a piece in my eye,’ you hear them say.
Lahoun, thankful to have survived, called the drivers “reckless” and said, “I could have died.”
“If they hadn’t raced, this wouldn’t have happened,” she told KHOU. “We could have avoided it. Anyone could have gone to the shoulder and avoided it.
Lahoun, who said she likes fast cars and the thrill of them, also pointed out that the dangers of racing are “the most idiotic thing you can do.”
‘I like driving. I had a Camaro that I liked to speed,” she said in part. “If that piece of rubble had been six inches to the left, I don’t think we’d be here.”
She wants the drivers to pay for what they’ve done, literally the thousand dollars it will now cost her to repair her Jeep.
She has also filed a report with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and hopes the drivers will come forward and redeem themselves.
