Texas woman Peggy Jones describes horrific injuries from snake and hawk attacks while mowing her backyard

A Texas woman suffered brutal injuries after being viciously attacked by both a snake and a hawk while mowing her lawn.
told Peggy Jones click2Houston she was on a tractor mower when the snake fell from the sky and landed on her near her home in Silsbee.
As it began to tighten around her arm, a hawk swooped down and began clawing at a defenseless Jones, trying to grab its prey.
“The hose squeezed so hard and I was waving my arms in the air,” she told the outlet.
“Then this hawk swooped down and clawed at my arm over and over again. I kept saying, “Help me, Jesus, help me, Jesus.”‘
Peggy Jones was first attacked by a snake while she was mowing the lawn, but moments later she was attacked by a hungry hawk who tried to grab the snake.
Finally the hawk – successful in its prey – snatched the snake from her arm and flew away, leaving Jones with a bloody arm covered in deep cuts and bruises.
“I was screaming and screaming. (My husband) didn’t know what I was saying. I thought I had been bitten by a snake,” Jones explained.
Jones’s husband ran to the commotion and took his wife to the emergency room, where she was treated for her injuries.
Jones said she knew how close she could have been to being bitten by the snake when she “swung her arms back and forth” in an attempt to remove the slippery intruder.
“He kept hitting my face, he hit my glasses,” she said.
“I discovered that the lens of my glasses was broken and that there was snake venom on my glasses.”
The unexpected attack gave Jones a sense of relief as it could have had a worse outcome.

Jones said this wasn’t even her first snake attack, telling click2Houston that she survived a venomous bite a few years ago.
Texas is one of the largest states in the United States and encompasses a wide variety of habitats and lies along the flight path of many migratory species.
An impressive 670 bird species can be found in the region, including at least 19 species of hawks, 15 of which regularly roam the region.
While it remains unclear what type of hawk and snake were part of the attack, it’s common for them to be spotted at this time of year, according to avi birds.
