Texas trio are arrested after they ‘blew fentanyl smoke into the face of 19-day-old baby to stop her crying’: Cops found deadly drug in DIAPER BAG

Three people have been arrested for allegedly blowing fentanyl smoke into a 19-day-old baby’s face in an attempt to calm her cries for several days at a Texas hotel.

Robert Mason, 33, and Jennifer Trevino, 32, were identified as the child’s parents. The pair and 22-year-old Aracely Rocha are now charged with child abandonment and child endangerment, according to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement authorities also made the chilling discovery last Thursday of 56 fentanyl pills in their car, some of which were scattered in a newborn baby’s diaper bag.

Mason, Trevino, Rocha lived with a fourth adult and four children in two adjoining rooms at the Frontier Inn & Suites in Abilene, as detailed in an arrest affidavit obtained by DailyMail.com.

During a search of their hotel rooms, the cloud of smoke was so thick that officers had to put on breathing masks, abc7 reported.

The trio was initially arrested by officers for allegedly leaving litter in front of the hotel on January 25.

When officers searched their vehicle, they found four adults, a two-week-old infant, Fentanyl pills along with burned foils, pipes and straws used for smoking, according to the arrest report.

Officers later searched their hotel rooms full of fentanyl smoke and recently burned foil.

The three suspects intentionally blew fentanyl smoke into the newborn baby’s face to stop her crying, the affidavit alleges.

The child was having trouble breathing when she was found by officers.

“Interviews revealed that three out of four adults were actively involved in smoking fentanyl in the presence of the children at least in the past two days,” the statement said.

“Interviews also revealed that the adults were aware of at least one of the adults blowing fentanyl smoke in the child’s face to stop the child from crying.”

Authorities also allege that the fourth person was aware of the other three suspects smoking fentanyl in front of four children, but took no action to prevent it.

“The fourth adult did nothing to prevent or prevent the children from being exposed to the fentanyl smoke that filled the area.”

The two-week-old baby was rushed to the Hendrick Medical Center emergency room, where the other three children were also examined.

Mason, Trevino and Rocha were each charged with four counts of child abandonment and child endangerment.

Rocha was also charged with possession of fentanyl and amphetamine, according to the affidavit. Mason faces an additional charge of obstruction/retaliation.

They were arrested and booked into the Taylor County Jail on bonds totaling more than $100,000 each.

Caitlin Culpepper with the county sheriff’s office told DailyMail.com they are currently still in jail.

The fourth adult has not yet been identified and it is unclear what charges they could face Friday afternoon.
