Texas husband and his friend charged after wife drowns in lake during drunken Fourth of July boat day

A young woman drowned and her husband was arrested after she fell into a lake during a Fourth of July celebration.

Shane Everett Anniboli, 44, was charged with boating under the influence after police found his wife’s body in the water of Lake Conroe, north of Houston.

The couple were on a pontoon boat when it fell overboard around 9 p.m. and never resurfaced.

Anniboli, another woman, and Kyle Dean MacMeekin, the driver of another boat next to them, jumped into the water to rescue her.

They couldn’t find her in the water and darkness, and soon lost sight of the other woman who also dove into the water to help.

Montgomery County Marine Police arrived and pulled MacMeekin, 29, and Anniboli from the water, and the search continued.

Police used sonar to scan the lake and found the other woman safely on a jetty an hour later after swimming about a kilometre.

MacMeekin was charged with driving under the influence and is being held without bail

Divers from the North Montgomery County Fire Department found the missing woman’s body around 11 p.m.

Texas Parks and Wildlife rangers began interviewing witnesses and arrested Anniboli and MacMeekin.

They were both charged with boating under the influence and are being held without bail in the Montgomery County Jail.

Anniboli owned and operated Funky Flamingo Shaved Ice in Magnolia, Texas, where he still lives. He started the business in 2016 with his ex-wife Mary, but closed the business about two years ago.

He is now a Business Development Specialist at Dahill and previously also led Turfco Landscape Management.

MacMeekin is a former football star at the University of Central Florida and is now a project manager at SRG Roofing in Spring, Texas.

Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack ordered an inquest and sent the woman’s body for an autopsy. Her name has not yet been released.
