Texas House recommends impeaching Attorney General Ken Paxton

Texas House recommends impeaching Attorney General Ken Paxton after investigators described YEARS of misconduct — days after he sparked argument with Speaker by accusing him of being drunk on a vote

A Republican-led committee of the Texas House of Representatives has recommended that the state’s GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton be impeached over years of allegations that he has abused office.

Paxton has been accused of many crimes while in power and was the focus of strife among senior Republican party members after he claimed that House Speaker Dade Phelan was drunk during the voting.

The committee has been secretly investigating Paxton for months and a vote on his removal from office could take place as early as Friday.

Paxton, who asked the Supreme Court to overturn President Joe Biden’s 2020 victory, has claimed the investigation is purely political and has attacked the state GOP leadership for being too “liberal.”
