Texas grandmother, 106, ‘brutally murdered by her grandson’ in her own home

A young man allegedly murdered his 106-year-old grandmother in her own home while he was staying with her.

Cecilia Agnes Ferguson was found dead in her home in Amarillo, Texas, on November 26, after police were called and told she had died.

When officers arrived at the home on Northeast 14th Street, they determined her death was suspicious and called in homicide detectives.

Suspicion quickly fell on her grandson, Michael Alexander Ferguson, 35, who was living with her at the time.

He denied any involvement in Cecilia’s death, but was arrested and charged with causing injury to the elderly.

A month later, after a more thorough investigation, Ferguson was charged with murder on Monday and issued a new arrest warrant.

Ferguson was jailed for two years in 2013 for attacking two family members in the space of a year, but had stayed out of legal trouble since his release, apart from an arrest (pictured) for traffic crimes in 2021.

He was booked into the Potter County Detention Center at the request of prosecutors from the Potter County District Attorney’s Office.
