A man has been arrested after he was found sleeping in a Texas family's home after police say he caused a fatal crash in their front yard that left a woman dead.
Harris County Sheriff's Office says Daniel Alexander Rodriguez-Olivares was drunk and speeding when he crashed into the family's front yard Thursday morning in Houston.
Police say Rodriguez-Olivares was driving his 2016 BMW at a high rate of speed when he crashed into a culvert where the road split.
The diver forced the car into the air, causing it to fly into the front yard of homeowner Carlos Suarec's property.

After crashing the vehicle, Rodriguez-Olivares then allegedly got out of his vehicle and broke into Suarec's home.
Suarec said Fox 26: 'I know someone is trying to break into my window. I never knew the car was here.'
Suarec told the newspaper that his family called officials and fled the house, with a relative telling police that the man was unconscious in the house.
“I go in and the police come and they say stay there. Maybe five, six police officers will go in and try to find him in the house,” Suarec added.

One of Suarec's associates also told the newspaper that they believed Rodriguez-Olivares was driving at a speed of more than 200 km/h.
Sergeant Bondurant of the Harris County Sheriff's Office said, “There is no reason to drink and drive at all.
“2023, almost 2024, we have Uber, we have Lyft's. Heck, call 911 and we'll come get you.”

After crashing the vehicle, Rodriguez-Olivares then allegedly got out of his vehicle and broke into Suarec's home.
According to the police, the driver is suspected of manslaughter under the influence and has been taken to hospital in critical condition.
Detectives said he showed signs of intoxication and the manslaughter charge against him was accepted.
The passenger, described as a young woman in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Edgar Fuentes, a neighbor who lived near the property, told Fox 26, “He jumped through the ditch on the other side, all the way down.
“We thought he was going to land there in the middle of the ditch or something, but that didn't happen. He crossed and landed on the other side. That was really bad.'
