US Representative Henry Cuellar was carjacked by three armed assailants in crime-ridden Washington DC on Monday evening.
The Texas Democrat was not injured during the terrifying attack on his home, but his white Honda CHR with Texas license plates was stolen.
Cuellar’s chief of staff, Jacob Hochberg, issued a statement: “As Congressman Cuellar parked his car this evening, three armed assailants approached the Congressman and stole his vehicle.
“Luckily he was not injured and is cooperating with local police.”

Just last week, Cuellar demanded “repercussions” for illegal migrants amid a new wave of border crossings.
The number of border crossings in the 2023 financial year, which ends at the end of September, is on track to surpass those of 2022 after figures showed a rise of 50,000 apprehensions in the month of August.
‘We must have repercussions at the border. What does that mean? You have to deport people, and you have to show images of people being deported,” Cuellar told Fox News on Sunday.
“When was the last time we saw people going the other way instead of just people pouring in?”
The moderate Democrat represents a region along the border that includes San Antonio. Neither Joe Biden nor Donald Trump have a plan to solve the problem, according to Cuellar.
“I think Trump has gone too far to the right in separating families and children, and then I think President Biden, the administration, is not doing enough. We have to find the right balance,” he told host Bill Hemmer.
“You have to listen to community leaders.”
The congressman said the US must convince Mexico to act and secure its own borders to stop migrants before they reach the US border.
“I’ve been saying this for years,” Cuellar said, “we as Democrats and Republicans can continue to play defense on the 1-yard line, or we can play defense on their 20-yard line – and that makes Mexico do that. more.’
