Big night: And with just weeks to go until the grand finale, the pressure is on to get their steps right as the phone lines reopen after the show for fans to vote for their favorite routines

It comes a week after Tony got into a “heated argument” with his dance partner Katya during the closing moments of the week seven show.

A BBC source said: “After finding out he would have to face the dance-off, Tony spoke to producers and stated that both he and the physio were concerned that re-dancing the jive in the dance-off would further could cause injuries and he had therefore decided that he would withdraw from the competition instead.”

The BBC declined to explain what the injury was or how it came about, calling it a private, medical matter, although there was speculation he had hurt his hamstring, a common complaint for footballers.
