Tesla Model Y now comes with seven seats in major boost for eco-conscious large families
- The Long Range All-Wheel Drive variant now offers a third row of seats for an extra £2,500
Tesla’s global best-selling SUV just got even more practical: it’s now available with seven seats.
The Model Y, which became the first EV to top the global sales chart with more than 1.3 million units sold by 2023, is now available as a seven-seater if you buy the Long Range All-Wheel Drive version.
The Long Range AWD Y starts from £51,990. However, the additional third row costs an extra £2,500.

The third row of seats is easily accessible thanks to the access buttons on the backrest of each outer seat of the second row. You maneuver the seats forward and backward and fold them so that passengers can get in and out unhindered
The seven-seat option is only available on the Long-Range All Wheel Drive variant and promises to give families extra versatility.
The third row of two forward-facing seats (which fold flat for maximum storage space) will be easily accessible thanks to the sliding rear row that also folds completely flat.
Press the entry buttons on the back of each second-row seat and you can maneuver the seats so that passengers can enter and exit without hindrance.
Telsa says third-row passengers also have comfortable headroom thanks to their placement under the rear window, and there are also two USB-C ports for charging mobile devices.
Also handy for carrying more luggage: the Model Y seven-seater has 2,040 liters of space to play with.
EVs don’t have a front engine or rear fuel tank, so in this Model Y there’s room for 117 liters of storage under the front engine (frunk) and 363 liters behind the third row of seats.
Tesla says that even if all seven passengers are seated comfortably, you can fit two carry-on suitcases in the trunk and two large bags in the trunk.
Fold the third row flat and use the Model Y as a five-seater and you get 753 liters – enough for strollers, scooters or folding beds.
The Y can also tow 1,600 kg: a small caravan or a two-person horse trailer.
The Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive has a combined range of 600 kilometers WLTP (up to 351 kilometers if you get the 19-inch standard wheels) and can charge for up to 250,000 kilometers

On the Tesla Supercharger network (the Model Y comes with full access as with all Teslas) you can charge up to 200 miles in just 15 minutes.
The seven-seat Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive is available from £54,490.
It stems from the new Model Y cab configuration and follows the launch of the new rear-wheel drive Model Y earlier this month.
The new rear-wheel drive Model Y replaces the old rear-wheel drive Model Y with a long-range version, capable of a range of 370 miles and will start from £46,990.
Of the 25 best-selling new cars worldwide, only 12 are available for the UK market
