A Tesla driver complained about a stranger kicking the back of his car… but a glaring detail in security footage has Aussies turning on him

A Tesla driver who complained about a stranger kicking his car has sparked backlash over a striking detail in the security footage.

Luke Erwin, a Gold Coast social media personality, was pulling out of a parking lot when the incident occurred last Monday.

Mr Erwin shared security footage of the Tesla and claimed in the video that Australians appeared to have ‘lost the plot’.

“I’m going out of the parking lot, everything’s fine, you know?” he said.

“It’s all good, everything’s all cold.”

He played footage of a stranger kicking the back of his car as he drove onto the street.

“You see, this person here comes out of nowhere,” Mr. Erwin said.

Footage showed a person in jeans kicking the back of the vehicle as they tried to cross the driveway.

Mr Erwin claimed his Tesla ‘got so much hate’ and said he was stunned by the incident.

‘For example, what is going on in the world?’ he said.

“Everyone’s lost the plot, mate, just like me, I’ve just slowed down.”

Mr Erwin captioned the video: ‘There’s something in the water.’

Social media users were not sympathetic to Mr Erwin, with many claiming he should have given way to the pedestrian crossing the driveway.

“Looks like you didn’t stop for pedestrians,” one person wrote.

Some pointed out that there was a stop sign painted at the end of the driveway.

“Like you said, you slowed down, but it said stop. You didn’t stop,” one person wrote.

“You almost shot a pedestrian,” wrote a third.

Some offered their support to Mr. Erwin, agreeing that “there is something in the water.”

‘There’s definitely something in the water. A man tried to run me over all day because I was crossing the road,” one person wrote.

‘That’s crazy, Luc. I hope your car is doing well bro,” wrote another.

One follower said they experienced similar problems in their electric car.

‘I get the same thing in my BYD. I can’t believe how many people are against electric cars.’

Erwin is no stranger to controversy and came under fire in 2022 when he filmed himself throwing money at a homeless man in Sydney.

Mr. Erwin was seen raining five dollar bills over the man’s head as he sat on the sidewalk.

“Here we go, let’s go, baby,” he laughed as the notes fluttered to the ground as the man picked them up.

“It’s all yours, buddy. No one’s going to take it from you, you fucking sick bastard,” he said.

‘Don’t go through with that. That’s yours, brother.’

He then made the same gesture to a homeless woman.

Some social media users claimed the influencer had ‘belittled’ the man and questioned whether he was just donating for social media influence, while others said the stunt was ‘degrading’.

“Personally I’d just give it to the poor guy,” one user commented.

“The real benefit is doing it off camera,” a third wrote.

‘I don’t understand this. A few weeks ago I brought a man a tent, bedding, clothes and a bag of smokes. I didn’t film it and missed the chance to buy myself a PS4,” shared a fourth.

Another said: ‘That’s disgusting. Things are getting out of hand now. You help because you want to change something so you don’t get likes.’
