Terry Bradshaw addresses retirement speculation live on air… as Fox fans beg him to hang up his mic

Terry Bradshaw addressed the rumors surrounding his future at Fox Sports as calls for him to quit his broadcasting continue to mount.

The 76-year-old won four Super Bowls as a quarterback but became more prominent for his time as a broadcaster as he approaches 32 years with Fox Sports.

However, the former Louisiana Tech star left a sour taste in fans’ mouths this year with several on-air blunders. In addition to mixing up team and player names, Bradshaw was criticized for a controversial “Carolinas” accent impression after Hurricane Helene and called for the Browns to “drop” Deshaun Watson.

He also infamously mistook Rob Gronkowski, a full-time panelist, to fill in for Jimmy Johnson on Fox NFL Sunday.

As a result, fans called for Bradshaw to withdraw from his broadcasts.

While accepting calls for him to hang up his suit, Bradshaw took to the air to say he won’t be leaving anytime soon.

‘You know what, man, I don’t know when that time will come when they will say to me: you know ‘happy trails’. Yeah man, you want to say this will never happen,” he said on Dale Brisby’s Rodeo Time podcast.

“But I think when the Cowboys play the New York Giants, and you say, ‘Well uh… uh today we have uh… uh, our biggest game today, as you well know, it’s this huge match between… uh… you know they’re doing really well right now (mimicking someone telling him ‘Dallas’ over the microphone) Dallas!’

“Yes, you can see you’re as good as gone,” he added. ‘That hasn’t happened yet. But you know what, when you realize the time has come, it’s a sad time.”

While he remains adamant about staying on the air, fans maintained their calls for his retirement.

“Terry Bradshaw needs to hang it up. He’s embarrassing himself right now,” one user wrote on X.

‘Yes. It’s kinda hard to see a legend struggle like this,” said another in the comments.

Bradshaw, who works with Gronkowski, Curt Menefee, Jimmy Johnson, Michael Strahan, Howie Long and Jay Glazer, said he still enjoys his work.

“I love the commentary, I absolutely love it and I can’t wait to get started on Sunday,” he told Brisby.

“I’ve been doing it 43, 44 years and the guys I work with, man, you (Brisby) would love it. It’s a locker room atmosphere for us and we all love and care about each other. Everyone is happy with everyone’s success, whether it’s Howie [Long] doing sneaker commercials or movies or Michael [Strahan] with ‘Good Morning America.’

‘Short [Menefee] is now at FOX in New York City as the morning show host, so it’s so much fun. And then you know it’s an hour show, then you watch football all day and do highlights, halftime, Super Bowls, playoff games, I mean we do great things at Fox.”
