Terrifying moment tourists’ yacht crashes into rocks and sinks during New Year’s Day boat trip
This is the terrifying moment a yacht carrying tourists crashed into rocks and sank during a chaotic New Year’s Eve boat trip.
The ship – named Amore Mio – was carrying guests in Mexico who celebrated the start of 2025 in style before things went dramatically wrong.
Exciting footage captured the luxury boat crashing into a large rock wall as a group of bikini-clad partygoers crammed into an open space at the front of the yacht.
The ship could be seen swaying back and forth as the panicked guests rushed to find safety before the boat tipped over or crashed into the rock surface again.
Bystanders and divers frantically shouted at the tourists and made hand gestures encouraging them to escape the crashing boat by jumping off the side.
Screams and shouts from stranded tourists filled the footage, as some ran to the side of the boat to jump off, while others stood in the bow.
According to local reports, a total of fifteen tourists fell into the water, but were fortunately rescued by local divers who brought them to safety.
Another clip from the boat after the crash shows the vessel slowly sinking into the blue waters off La Quebrada, Acapulco, as parts of the mechanism broke off and floated out to sea.
The yacht – named Amore Mio – was carrying guests in Mexico who celebrated the start of 2025 in style before things went dramatically wrong
The white boat crashed into a rock wall in the waters off La Quebrada, Acapulco, as tourists rushed to jump off.
The empty yacht was later seen in footage almost vertically as it sank into the blue waters
After the crash, parts of the destroyed yacht could be seen floating in the sea
You could see the empty yacht bobbing up and down, while at least two other small boats lurked behind it, watching the destruction unfold.
The Amore Mio was almost vertical when large pieces of metal floated away, causing the ship to sink further into the water as onlookers watched in shock.
The wreckage was then seen drifting slowly towards a rock wall, causing further damage to the vehicle as it bounced off the surface.
Eyewitnesses told local media that the strong current pulled the boat towards the rocks, eventually causing it to crash.
Passengers rescued from the boat were reportedly unharmed, but suffered nervous breakdowns due to the shock of the boat crashing.
After the incident, the Mexican Navy cordoned off the area.
It comes after a £10 million superyacht collided with a cruise ship off the Bahamas last month.
Footage taken by passengers showed the Aurora yacht veering diagonally toward the massive cruise ship Allure of the Seas as it docked in Nassau harbor on Dec. 12.
Shocked cruise guests standing at the railing can be heard shouting, “That’s definitely going to happen to us.” They hit us. Oh no, they’re going to hit us.’
The 121-foot yacht then collided with the Royal Caribbean ship with a loud crash, before scraping the hull of the 1,187-foot cruise ship, accompanied by deafening cracking sounds.
The yacht’s mast even struck one of the cruise ship’s lifeboats, rupturing the radar dome and leaving debris on the yacht.
But the Allure of the Seas suffered only minimal damage and departed the Bahamas port with a 40-minute delay.
No injuries were reported following the incident, but the Aurora remained docked in Nassau for repairs due to the significant damage it sustained.
