Terrifying moment Sunshine Coast homeowners discover massive python latched onto their pet cat in the backyard

A mother and daughter were shocked to see a huge snake grab their cat in a suburban backyard as the attack was captured on CCTV.

In the footage posted to social media on Thursday, a cat can be seen relaxing in the backyard of a property in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast when the mother comes out, alarmed that the huge snake had snuck up behind it.

As she screams, the snake grabs the cat’s backside, causing the startled pet to run into the house while chasing the reptile – leading to shocked screams from a young girl inside.

The footage was posted to the Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers Facebook page 24/7 by company founder Stuart McKenzie, who said it was one of the “most insane videos” he had ever seen.

Mr McKenzie revealed that the mother and daughter managed to loosen their pet’s snake and get the carpet python back outside before calling it out.

“Luckily they were able to get the snake off the cat, the cat went away for a while and the snake, which we eventually moved, curled up behind their barbecue,” Mr McKenzie said.

‘This is one of the most chillingly crazy videos you will ever see.’

The company’s Facebook page also praised the homeowners.

“Honestly the mother and daughter were so brave and did an amazing job,” the video caption read.

Mr McKenzie later took a video of the python curled up in a collection bag.

“It’s obviously a difficult situation if a pet ever gets grabbed by a carpet python, but they did the right thing: they were able to get the snake off the cat safely, grabbed the cat’s coils, and the snake tried to let it out.” to sleep. disabled,” Mr McKenzie said.

The python was released into bushland.

“Go away buddy, please don’t grab any more pets,” he told the departing reptile.
