This is the terrifying moment when a woman smashes through the windows of a Pasadena home with a pickaxe, just inches from a newborn baby.
Beverley Baker, 65, was caught with the weapon during the horrific attack and returned to the California home several times.
The newborn’s grandmother watched the assailant smash into the building with a pickaxe and nearly shards of glass over her six-week-old granddaughter.
It comes amid a skyrocketing crime rate in LA, with an overall increase in violent crime by 4.2 percent.

She managed to snatch the baby from the window just before it was shattered, but Baker continued her attack and came back several times
Researchers say Baker may have suffered from mental illness, though that hasn’t been confirmed
Pasadena police later arrested her at her home, just a few blocks from where the attack took place
Arman Tchoukadarian said he feels the family “lost their safe place” in the incident.
The homeowner estimates that approximately $20,000 in damage was done to the home during the attack.
His mother-in-law was alone with the baby when Baker boldly walked over to the property with the large gun.
She managed to snatch the baby from the window just before it was shattered, before Baker returned to the scene.
Tchoukadarian told KTLA: ‘If my mother-in-law didn’t act as quickly as she did, my daughter wouldn’t be here.
“She broke a window and went back. My mother-in-law came out screaming and screaming to get my attention.
“The police found her casually with a pickaxe on her back, as if she had just finished it.”
Baker returned several times, swinging the pickaxe over her shoulder, “Questions? Anybody ask? I’ll be back, go away.’

Baker refused to surrender for about half an hour but was eventually taken into custody and charged with felony vandalism.
Tchoukadarian said his family is traumatized by the ordeal, adding: “She needs to be in the right place and get the right help.
“That’s no excuse to attack someone’s family, attack someone’s newborn baby and ruin their dream home, and ruin their life and sanity.”
