Terrifying moment man kills ex-girlfriend in sword attack – after murdering wife in same twisted way

A city government employee has been arrested in Brazil after confessing to killing his wife and ex-girlfriend in separate sword attacks.

A Goiás police official reported that Renan dos Santos, 23, had an argument with his wife, Luana Meirelles, 28, on Thursday in the studio apartment they shared in the town of Edésia and stabbed her with a sword.

After killing his wife of a year, dos Santos was seen on surveillance camera riding his bicycle in front of the store where his former girlfriend, Ana Ribeiro, 22, worked. He later attacked her.

The footage, released by police, shows Dos Santos calmly walking into the store with the sword and intercepting Ribeiro in front of a customer.

Renan dos Santos was seen in the store where his ex-girlfriend, Ana Ribeiro, worked before he attacked her with a sword on Thursday in Edésia, a city in the central Brazilian state of Goiás. She died Saturday at a local hospital. The incident occurred moments after dos Santos killed his wife, Luana Meirelles, in a similar attack in their home

The camera showed Ribeiro trying to run away and then falling, as Dos Santos stood over her and began stabbing her, as a staff member looked on in horror.

Ribeiro was rushed to the Gov. Otávio Lage de Siqueira State Hospital in the city of Goiânia and placed on a ventilator. She died of her injuries on Saturday.

Renan, who worked as an assistant at Edéia’s town hall, was seen on CCTV cycling away from the shop. He was arrested a few hours later.

He told Civil Police detectives that he killed both women out of jealousy.

“He stabbed his partner with a homemade knife,” police chief Daniel Moura told reporters. “After killing his partner, he went to the work of another woman (Ribeiro), who was allegedly the reason for the fight, and he stabbed her several times as well.”

Dos Santos is accused of two cases of femicide and is in pre-trial detention.

Meirelles is survived by three children, two daughters aged six and twelve and a ten-year-old son, all from previous relationships.

She dreamed of becoming a psychologist, but was unable to complete her university studies due to financial problems.

“She was a hard worker and loved her children very much,” said her niece Gisane Alves, quoted by Brazilian news outlet G1. “There was never a bad time for her, it was hard to see her sad.”

Ribeiro was praised by her customers for her excellent service.

“The service was impeccable, always attentive,” one customer wrote on social media.

“Excellent professional, a saleswoman who was always willing to help,” noted another.
