Terrifying moment car bursts into flames at a busy intersection before brave motorists jump in with a fire extinguisher

Two 'Aussie legends' have been praised for their bravery after springing into action when a car caught fire following a crash at a busy intersection in Queensland.

Dashcam footage from a car stopped at an intersection in Woodridge – a suburb of the city of Logan, about 45km south of Brisbane – captured the fiery crash.

The images were shared on Facebook last Friday, where they were viewed more than 300,000 times.

The video showed traffic heading north on Ewing Road before a driver ran a red light on Compton Road and struck a white hatchback.

Dashcam footage captured the moment a red ute burst into flames after crashing into a white hatchback at a busy intersection in Woodridge, about 45km south of Brisbane, Queensland

The rear tires of the ute caught fire as the vehicle turned 180 degrees and came to a stop.

Traffic came to an abrupt halt before two brave motorists immediately came to the aid of the ute driver.

One man was seen running to the ute before helping the driver get out of the burning wreckage.

Another driver, who was behind the white hatchback and noticed the fire, quickly moved his car before jumping out and grabbing a fire extinguisher from the back of his car.

The man ran to the fire and used the fire extinguisher until the flames were extinguished.

Social media users praised the two men for their quick thinking and bravery, with many labeling the duo as 'Aussie legends'.

'Wow! Hats off to old buddy who ran towards the car and the man with the fire extinguisher!! Legends!' one person commented.

“Aussie legends… one legend gets out to help the driver and the other legend comes with the fire extinguisher,” another person wrote.

'Would love it if the two guys in the video shout a drink, quick response and a fire extinguisher? Great job,” chimed in a third.

Others joked that the man with the fire extinguisher was finally able to use it after “waiting all his life,” while another captioned the crash with “Flaming T-Bone.”

The footage served as a good reminder for motorists to buy a fire extinguisher and keep it in their car.

Vehicle fire extinguishers can cost between $30 and $60 depending on the model and size, and often come with a vehicle bracket for easy installation.
