Terrifying moment when baby almost falls off high chair while trying to climb onto the counter

  • Two-year-old Sophia scrambled out of her high chair to get more cake
  • The toddler was stretched out between the chair and the counter

This is the terrifying moment when a toddler finds herself between her high chair and the counter, before her quick-thinking mom steps in to stop her from falling headfirst to the floor.

Victoria Carbajal, of Denver, Colorado, was shaking at the close call where she tried her best to grab two-year-old Sophia after a near miss and possible injuries.

Curious Sophia had decided she wanted more cake, so she climbed out of her high chair to grab some for herself.

The two-year-old pulled herself up on the chair and reached for the table, her eyes fixed on the frosted sponge.

She reached with one foot on the tabletop of her high chair with two hands firmly planted on the counter in pursuit of the pie.

But as she stretched, Sophia moved her highchair farther away from the kitchen island.

Slowly, the high chair is pushed further and further back before the two-year-old finds herself floating mid-air between the chair and the counter.

Sophia then falls down sharply, but manages to stop herself from falling to the floor as she grabs her left hand for the high chair.

Both Sophia and the family’s small dog make eye contact, seemingly both realizing the fear bearing down on the toddler.

Fortunately, her two-year-old Sophia was able to hold out long enough for Victoria to save her.

Fortunately, her mother was still in the room and quickly heard her call for help.

She picked up the child and held her in her arms after saving her from a likely fall.

The video went viral on social media with some people calling Victoria a bad mother for the incident.

However, the 31-year-old denies these allegations and says it was just an accident.

She said, “I have a lot of people shaming me, which is awful because I’m a great mom who’s always with my daughter. It was an accident.

“I put my daughter in her high chair so she could break her cake and frosting. I unbuckled her and turned to wash her baby bottle.

She decided to climb out because she wanted more cake and she almost fell. She screamed for me to help her when she couldn’t take it anymore.

“We were going on vacation that day, so I was stressed out about it and I kept thinking what if my daughter got hurt.”
