Terrifying moment a military plane skims just a few meters over a busy road with its engines cutting out before making an emergency landing in Turkey

This is the moment a military plane flew just meters above cars traveling along a busy road in Turkey, minutes before it crashed while taking part in a training exercise.

The C-160T Transall transport aircraft, flying with the Turkish Air Force, was forced to make an emergency landing after suffering a technical fault in mid-air on January 25.

The plane, which took off from the 12th Air Transport Base Command in the north of Kayseri city, flew just a few meters above residential areas.

One clip showed the plane, which bears the serial number 69-036, flying slowly over a busy road, while another clip showed it flying over a stadium in the city, which has a population of 1.43 million and is about 260 miles from Ankara is.

Footage showed the propeller on the left side of the aircraft, dubbed ‘Gören-1’ by the Turkish Air Force, apparently failing and slowing down, while the propeller on the right side appeared to be working. The images also show that the aircraft’s landing gear was raised.

Separate footage showed the plane, which recently underwent upgrades to become an intelligence-focused command and control/target acquisition aircraft, slowly scraping the tarmac of a runway.

The plane’s fuselage appeared to scrape the tarmac and its landing gear did not appear to be engaged during the crash.

The Turkish Air Force said no one was injured or killed in the crash, adding that the plane suffered only “minor damage.”

The crash in Turkey comes days after a Russian military plane carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war crashed in a massive fireball in a region near the border with Ukraine.

Dramatic video shows an out-of-control Ilyushin Il-76 plummeting from the sky and crashing into the ground in front of shocked locals in the village of Yablonovo, which is just 42 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

As the large, 50-meter plane slams into the ground, it explodes in a huge fireball that engulfs the 72-ton plane in flames.

Within minutes of the crash, Russia claimed that the military plane was carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war, six crew members and three people accompanying them, without providing any evidence. Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region, said all 74 people on board had died in the crash.

Sources within the Ukrainian military had told local media that the downing of the Russian military plane was “their job” and that it was carrying S-300 air defense missiles. But that claim was later retracted.

And Russian State Duma member and retired general Andrei Kartapolov claimed the plane was shot down by three types of missiles supplied by the West to Ukraine, without providing evidence.

He said an investigation would determine whether the missiles were US-made Patriots or German IRIS-Ts.
