Terrifying moment a man in hi-vis allegedly attacked a Gold Coast resident in his own home while he was doing yard work
Terrifying footage has captured the moment a man was attacked in his own home by a stranger who allegedly punched the homeowner and chased him with a shovel.
The shocking incident happened at the man’s Gold Coast home at around 1.15pm on September 4.
CCTV footage from the side of the man’s property shows the moment the resident was attacked by his alleged attacker while working in the garden.
The homeowner, who was wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts, can be seen vigorously raking the stones.
He then appears to stop raking for a moment and looks around as he rests the rake against a wooden plank on the ground.
The resident then goes back to work shoveling the rocks, before a man suddenly appears wearing a yellow safety shirt, gray shorts and a bucket hat.
The alleged intruder is seen casually walking towards the homeowner as he continues to shovel the rocks.
The homeowner becomes aware of the man before the intruder is seen punching the resident.
He then appears to stumble and fall forward as the homeowner ducks his head to the side to avoid the attack.
The man in hi-vis then appears to chase the homeowner around the side of the house, armed with the garden tools.
The 37-year-old father – whose family was inside at the time of the alleged incident – managed to fight off the 42-year-old man until police arrived.

He suffered several non-life-threatening injuries before being treated by paramedics.
The homeowner’s attorney, Nick Hart, said the man in the hi-vis allegedly entered the property through the garage.
“My client was at work doing some general maintenance on the side of his property… when a man approached his property, entered his garage which was open and approached my client,” Mr Hart said. 7 News.
He said the homeowner was forced to fend off the man himself to prevent him from being seriously injured.
“My client had to subdue that man single-handedly until he could be properly restrained by emergency services,” Mr Hart said.
Police have charged the 42-year-old man with trespassing and assault and he will appear at Southport courthouse on Friday.
