Terrifying moment a couple’s 10-month-old gets locked inside Tesla during test drive

A couple who took a Tesla for a test drive found themselves in a terrifying ordeal when their 10-month-old child was locked in the car.

Tesla offers customers the opportunity to test drive their car at night to experience ‘life with the car’.

But the couple found themselves regretting their decision after the car automatically locked when it ‘switched off’ with the key card still inside, as did their 10-month-old baby when they got out.

Video footage taken by the baby’s mother showed emergency services arriving on the scene as her partner tried to call Tesla roadside assistance and dealers for advice.

They explained that they had taken the Tesla The mother added: ‘We don’t like him’

The baby’s cries could be heard after paramedics shattered the driver’s side window and pulled it out of the car

They explained that they took the Tesla

Emergency responders were seen shattering the driver’s side window so it could be pulled out while the baby who was still trapped was crying.

The father was heard off camera muttering “F*** you Elon” as paramedics reached inside for the key card to open the door.

“Thankfully it was around 6pm and the temperature was no longer 90+, but needless to say I will NEVER put my babies in a Tesla,” the mother wrote.

The couple said they got out and planned to immediately get their child out of the backseat when the Tesla locked itself and turned off

Comments on the video were disabled, but the couple received many questions on separate videos about why they left the key card or the child in the car.

The mother responded to many saying they had no intention of turning the car off. When they got out, she said they closed the doors and planned to get their child out of the backseat.

But before they could, the car was locked and turned off, she added in her reaction video: “There’s a place where you leave the card, and it basically tells the car to turn the car on… so that’s where the key is. was left behind.’

One commenter wrote: ‘Forget the card, why did you let the child in?’

She reiterates in another video that they planned to take their child out of the backseat and leave the car on to continue watching the car.

“Remember, this is a car we were planning on buying… it turned itself off and locked right away,” she said.

Beware of Teslas!!!! We took this brand new Tesla X home before we planned to buy it the next day and our worst nightmare emerged. The car was locked and locked with the key card inside and our 10 month old baby in the backseat. Demos don’t have the app, Tesla at the roadside couldn’t help and Tesla dealers didn’t answer the phone!! Luckily it was around 6pm and the temperature was no longer 90+, but needless to say I will NEVER put my babies in a Tesla. 🤬 #tesla #teslamodelx #Florida #look after

The responses went back and forth wondering how they ended up in this situation.

One wrote: ‘That still doesn’t explain why you left the key card in there… I got out of my car on the way and if I want to open the back doors I take the key with me or make sure at least one window is down.’

To which she replies, “I will answer this for the sake of others who will ask the same thing. Lol. The key was in the ignition which keeps the car running. I hope this helps’.

However, other viewers have said that this is not a one-off incident, and other stories have reportedly surfaced where the same problem was encountered.

“It’s crazy because you’re not the first mom this has happened to – I literally saw a news story about a mom whose Tesla was also locked while she was charging with her baby in the backseat,” one person wrote.

The couple wanted to return the car that evening, but even after calling many times, they couldn’t and hadn’t bothered to cover the window after suffering “enough trauma.”

However, Tesla was “very apologetic” despite being returned without a window because they suffered more damage from the storm at night.

A commenter asked if the couple was being held responsible for the window, to which their account replied, “No, we weren’t. They felt terrible about the situation and didn’t care about the car or the window.”

The mother said that in this situation it “becomes a safety issue for the manufacturer,” but she added, “I don’t want to say that I completely blame Tesla because yes, there are ways you can prevent this from happening.” ‘

She continued, “But if you have a demo car and you don’t have the app – it’s not available – then you don’t have a lot of options and it’s just ridiculous.”
