A Houston woman said she feared for her life after gale-force winds tore her car off the ground and blew out her back window.

Darlene Brown was waiting in her car to pick up her brother last week when a massive storm blew through the Texas city, killing seven people and causing dangerous flooding.

Footage captured the moment the storm battered Brown’s Toyota Corolla, ripping out the rear window and lifting it off the rear wheels.

“I thought I was really going to blow away in the air,” Brown said ABC13as she remembered saying to herself, “I’m going to be swept out of this car…I’m going to die.”

Brown waited outside Wells Fargo Plaza to pick up her brother from work, but had to stay longer than expected.

β€œHe called me and said, ‘I’m stuck in the elevator,’” she said.

As she sat on the street, Brown said the storm blew through within moments, sending heavy winds and rain blowing through the city and sending debris flying.

Thousands of windows across the square were shattered, and Brown said she called her sister on the phone to calm herself as shards of glass and debris raced through the street.

“I say, ‘I’m about to die.’ I say, ‘It’s going to wipe me out of this car. I’m going to die,'” she recalled telling her sister.

The footage of the storm hitting her car was filmed by attorney Michael Lombardino, who shared the footage from his dashcam, and Brown said she realized her car was later on the news.

The huge wind lifted her car off its rear wheels and pushed it several feet to the side of the curb, and Brown said it “felt like I was going into the air.”

β€œI felt like it had picked it up and moved it, and I thought it was going to take it away,” she added.

‘It can’t get any worse. β€œI’m just saying, I don’t know what we’re going to do now,” she said.

Brown said she was able to remove the tree without significant damage, but is still waiting to get back on the road as her car is in the repair shop.
