Horror fans have expressed their excitement after it was confirmed that popular scary film It Follows is getting a sequel.
The 2014 film was written and directed by David Robert Mitchell and stars Maika Monroe in the lead role of Jay Height.
In the film, a modern twist on the horror genre, Jay is chased by a supernatural creature after having sex with her new boyfriend.
She learns that the creature, ‘it’, is invisible to most people and the only thing she can do to stay alive is have sex with a new person and ‘pass it on’. If she doesn’t, the creature will kill her and move away. in the chain to the person who passed ‘it’ on to her.
The film received critical acclaim, achieving an impressive 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and grossing $23.3 million worldwide.

The sequel was confirmed on Monday, with David returning as director and writer and Maika playing the lead role.
The film will be called They Follow and filming is due to begin next year, with a poster for the film featuring the tagline: ‘It’s everywhere’.
Viewers of the first film were thrilled by the news, taking to Twitter to express their excitement, praising It Follows as “criminally over-the-top” and “one of the most impressive horrors of the past decade.”
One person wrote: ‘It Follows is still one of the best horror films of all time, so the fact that we’re getting a sequel with David Robert Mitchell writing/directing again and Maika Monroe reprising her role is so incredibly exciting.’
Another echoed: ‘It follows that this has been the blueprint for about 75% of prestige horror films since 2014, so many girls should fear the sequel. REAL horror is back, I don’t know.
