Terrifying footage shows MS-13 gang members stab inmate FORTY-FOUR times inside Brooklyn MDC before lone correction officer intervenes – as insiders reveal conditions are ‘the worst that I’ve ever seen’
An inmate in a New York City jail was stabbed 44 times by members of the MS-13 gang, in a horrific attack that has thrown a spotlight on conditions inside the notorious prison.
Shocking video obtained by NY Daily News shows the brutal chaos that unfolds in April at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
The horrific attack lasts 37 seconds before a single guard intervenes.
The victim survived, but his ordeal is being used as evidence of the nightmarish prison conditions that lawyers, judges and inmates, including sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, have complained about.
The clip shows him sitting at a table in the common area when one of the gang members approaches him and takes something from his waistband.

The attacker, believed to be violent criminal Luis ‘Inquieto’ Rivas, pulls back his arm and stabs the victim.
As he begins to writhe in pain, two other suspects approach him, hold him down and stab him with their own weapons.
They pull the victim out of his chair and throw him to the ground, while furiously stabbing him all over.
The victim continues to writhe on the floor as the blows continue to rain down.
Eventually, a lone guard runs up to them and the group of attackers flee.
Meanwhile, the victim manages to get up and stagger out of the frame, leaving blood splatter on the ground.
Shortly after, another officer appears on screen with his baton raised and begins chasing one of the prisoners.
More officers arrive on the scene and eventually one of the suspects is taken away in handcuffs.

Rivas, the prime suspect, is currently serving a 35-year prison sentence for the beheading of a 16-year-old boy who refused to execute a friend on the orders of his gang leader.
Rivas was sentenced to an additional five years in prison for stabbing a rival gang member at the now-closed Manhattan Detention Complex, where Jeffrey Epstein was held before killing himself.
Prison guards found two knives on him and one of the other attackers, one measuring 13 centimetres (5 inches) long and the other 28 centimetres (11 inches) long.
No further charges have been filed in this latest prison stabbing, but Rivas does face internal disciplinary action.
MS-13 is an international criminal gang founded in Los Angeles by Salvadoran immigrants who came to the U.S. to escape civil war in their home country, the Justice Department said.
The attack on the prison is the latest in a long line of incidents that have led to complaints about conditions.
In one case, staff were looking at a patient’s CT scans, which showed he had cancer. The tumor in his lungs doubled in size while he was waiting for treatment.
A report last year found that 44 percent of prison guard positions were unfilled.

“I’ve been there for decades. The conditions at MDC are the worst I’ve ever seen,” defense attorney Anthony Ricco told the NY Daily News. “What we’re seeing is really a complete breakdown of professionalism at this facility.”
Emery Nelson, a spokesman for the federal Bureau of Prisons, said the agency has assigned an “executive-level team” to investigate the stabbing and killings in June and July.
“The assigned team consists of high-level management personnel outside of Brooklyn who review all aspects of the incidents and prepare a detailed report with corrective actions to be considered,” he said.
