A British tourist describes how she was dragged away and sexually assaulted by two robbers in Magaluf while on the phone to a relative.
Speaking to the court, the terrified woman recalled how the relative heard her screaming for help before she was rescued by local police officers.
The alleged attackers – two men aged 20 and 25 – had her pinned down, she said.
“I don’t know what would have happened if the police lights had not appeared,” she told the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands today.
The woman – who has not been named – said she had been on holiday in Mallorca and that on the night of the attack she had gone to a cocktail bar in Magaluf – a party town on the island known for its nightlife which is popular among British.

She said she left the bar to call her relative in England, but there was too much noise in the area, so she moved further away from the bar.
It was then, she said, that she encountered the two young men surrounding her – one in front of her and one behind her.
According to the alleged victim, one of the men covered her mouth and dragged her to a less crowded area. There they took her jewelry, her watch and her phone.
Her phone was still connected to the conversation with her relative, who heard the woman’s screams, prompting him to rush to catch a flight to Mallorca.
The woman said the men not only took her belongings but also groped her while speaking to her “in very poor English.”
She said they tore her dress and touched her genitals. She insisted she resisted the attack at all times, but they had her pinned to the ground.
She said she “just wanted to get them off me.”
When asked by the prosecutor if she thought the men intended to rape her, she said she did not know but was grateful the police arrived when they did.
“I don’t know what would have happened if the police lights hadn’t showed up.”
By sheer change, a local police car passed the scene of the alleged attack with its blue lights on.
The woman said that when she realized it was a police car, the attack was interrupted and she was able to break away from her alleged attackers.

According to the officers, who also appeared in court, one of the suspects walked into the path of the vehicle in an attempt to block their line of sight.
“That didn’t make any sense,” one of the officers recalled. ‘For example, to ask us what time it is. It seemed suspicious to us.
The men then tried to flee, they said. They jumped over a fence at a sports venue, but were caught by the police after a chase.
Officers recalled how the shocked woman tried to tell them what had happened, and she managed to make it clear to them that she had been sexually assaulted.
“She was very nervous, crying and couldn’t stop shaking,” one of the officers told the court, recalling that the woman had blood on her thigh and one of the suspects had scratches on his cheeks.
When an officer searched one of the two men, they said they found the items they stole from the woman, including a watch he had hidden in his underwear.
The police officers said that when they informed the two men that they were under arrest, they responded with violence and threats.
The woman said she had been on holiday in Mallorca and that on the night of the attack she had gone to a cocktail bar in Magaluf – a party town on the island known for its nightlife and popular with Britons.
One of them said that “he was going to kill us, that he was going to send his relatives to kill us” and that he had ties to a criminal gang, one of the officers said.
The Public Prosecution Service has demanded a prison sentence of seventeen and a half years for the first suspect, and a prison sentence of twenty years for the second.
In addition, they ask that the suspects be forced to compensate the tourist with 16,000 euros (£13,700), and the police officers with smaller amounts.
The trial will continue on Friday.
