Terri Irwin’s incredible gesture to a group of hardcore Matildas fans is revealed – after they vowed to dress up as the late nature warrior Steve at the World Cup
Terri Irwin and Australia Zoo have expressed their support for a hardcore Matildas fan group called The Croissants.
Generous Terri, 59, donated 100 khaki shirts to the group, which has 3,000 followers on their Instagram page, so they could dress up as her late wildlife warrior husband Steve for the World Cup opening game on Thursday.
The group proudly supported The Matildas this week as they battled Ireland in the Fifa World Cup, winning the game 1-0.
“The Croissants are thrilled to announce that the amazing TERRI IRWIN, aka Australia Zoo, has come on board as a sponsor, providing 100 khaki T-shirts to fulfill our opening game dream of a ‘sea of Steve’s,'” read a post earlier this week.
It continued, “Keep your eyes peeled on Thursday night.”

The group has dressed up as Steve Irwin before, even sporting a messy blonde wig and blown-up crocodiles to complete the look.
“We all come from sports backgrounds and I think growing up we didn’t have the opportunities that we have now, and certainly not when a lot of Matildas were growing up,” a group member told me. The Sydney Morning Herald.

Terri and her family have proudly carried on Steve ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Irwin’s legacy since he was tragically killed by a stingray 17 years ago.
In an earlier birthday tribute to the late Steve, Terri said that while she is still “hurting” from her husband of 14 years, she was determined to celebrate the things he loved most – his children and Australia Zoo.

“Today would have been Steve’s 58th birthday. Although my heart aches when I miss him every day, I am determined to celebrate what he loved most,” she wrote.
‘He was my best friend, best father and built the best zoo. I love you’.
Irwin, known as The Crocodile Hunter, died on September 4, 2006, at the age of 44 after being gored in the chest by a stingray while filming a wildlife documentary called Ocean’s Deadliest in Queensland.
