Terri Irwin shares bittersweet Christmas throwback photo featuring late husband Steve: ‘Cherish every moment’

Terri Irwin paid a sweet tribute to Steve Irwin on Christmas Eve.

The conservationist, 59, posted a photo to Instagram of her late husband posing next to their two children, Bindi and Robert.

The family are pictured all smiling as they pose with newborn Robert.

'December 2003. Best month. Dear Christmas. Best family. Cherish every moment,” Terri captioned the post.

The photo was quickly flooded with reactions from sympathizers.

Steve and Terri Irwin met in 1991 when they visited the Australia Zoo while on holiday from the US, and they married the following year.

Earlier this year, on September 4, Terri publicly marked the 17th anniversary of Steve's death by paying a solemn tribute to him.

The nature star shared a rarely seen photo of Steve crouched in a cabin with a dog next to him as the light illuminated him.

Steve died tragically when a stingray barb pierced his chest on September 4, 2006, while filming near Batt Reef, Queensland, in his native Australia.

He was only 44 years old at the time.

Terri famously took over the Australia Zoo after being widowed with the couple's two children.

Irwin and her children Bindi, 25, and Robert, 19, have worked hard in the years since Steve's death to keep his conservation legacy alive.
