Terri Irwin marks her 32nd wedding anniversary with her late husband Steve by sharing a heartbreaking tribute: ‘The adventure of a lifetime’

Terri Irwin celebrated her 32nd wedding anniversary on Tuesday by paying a moving tribute to her late husband Steve.

The 59-year-old was married to zookeeper Steve for 14 years before his tragic death in 2006 and they share two children, daughter Bindi, 25, and son Robert, 20.

Taking to Instagram, the mother-of-two shared a photo of herself and Steve cuddling while holding a joey.

“32 years ago today, Steve and I said ‘I do’ and embarked on the adventure of a lifetime!” she captioned the post.

Steve and Terri married in June 1992 in her home state of Oregon after a whirlwind eight-month romance.

Friends and followers were quick to offer their love and support to the loved-up couple.

Australia Zoo’s social media wrote: ‘Happy anniversary to the greatest Wildlife Warriors. We love you so much, Terri and Steve! Thank you for your dedication to conservation and #AustraliaZoo.”

Bindi also paid tribute, writing: ‘Happy birthday to my wonderful parents. I love you both beyond words.”

Terri has been open about her romance with the iconic wildlife warrior.

Speaking to Anh Do on his Brush With Fame program, she recalled the moment she met Steve and wondered if he was single.

“I wasn’t even dating, I wasn’t even looking,” Terri, who was 27 at the time, said of Steve, 29, when they met in 1991.

“I was 27 years old and thought my life was going to be my job, met Steve and fell in love instantly,” she added.

Terri said she was impressed by how cool and calm Steve was while feeding a crocodile for a show.

“I thought this man was the most incredible man I had ever seen. He’s probably married. He must be taken,” she said.

That’s when she worked up the courage to talk to him, but to her dismay, Steve immediately said he wanted to introduce her to his “girlfriend.”

“I just felt completely crushed, and then he yelled, ‘Hey, Suey!’ And here comes this little dog, Suey. I said, ‘Boom! No girlfriend!”

Terri recently insisted she has no plans to re-enter the dating market, as she affectionately described her relationship with her late husband as her “happily ever after.”

“I have a happily ever after,” the American-Australian conservationist said We weekly earlier this month before attending the Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas.

Steve was tragically killed when he was struck by a stingray at Batt Reef near Port Douglas in far north Queensland on September 4, 2006.

The tragic news sent shockwaves across Australia and the rest of the world as his fans mourned the tragic loss.

Steve’s family has continued his mission to promote and protect wildlife through Australia Zoo.
