Terence Crawford heaps praise on ‘dangerous’ Tim Tszyu after stunning demolition of Carlos Ocampos…while former world champion claims Aussie star favorite to beat Jermell Charlo in October blockbuster bout
Tim Tszyu’s breakdown of Carlos Ocampos put the boxing world on alert, with Terence Crawford describing the Australian as ‘dangerous’.
Tszyu retained his WBO interim super-welterweight title by stopping Carlos Ocampos in just 77 seconds in a savage performance at the Gold Coast Convention Center on Sunday.
Tszyu’s performance was a chilling warning to undisputed world champion Jermell Charlo, with whom he will fight for the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF titles before October 1.
“I think that was a statement,” the Australian said after the fight, and the message was delivered loud and clear.
“He’s dangerous,” tweeted Crawford, a multiple world title winner in three weight divisions who currently holds a 39-0 record.

“I have a lot of respect for Crawford,” Tszyu said when told of Crawford’s post-fight comments.
“He’s actually one of my favorite fighters. That’s pretty cool to see him watching my fight.”
Tony Harrison, who was stopped in nine rounds by the Australian in Sydney in March, added: ‘That was impressive’.
Meanwhile, on Main Event, Australian boxing great Jeff Fenech said Tszyu had been “excellent” in his destruction of Ocampos.
And former world champion Shawn Porter believes Tszyu’s confidence was so great that the Australian should be considered the favorite against Charlo.
That’s the key word there: trust. He’s busy physically,” he said on the Main Event.
“He is growing in the ring in terms of experience and mentality.
‘Knowing what you see and taking control where possible. Now his confidence is growing.

Tony Harrison, who lost to Tszyu in March, was also impressed by the performance
“This is a big problem for Charlo. Look at all this momentum on Tim Tszyu’s side.
Everything is on Tim’s side to win this fight.
“In fact, I guarantee that even from a bookmaker’s point of view, if bookmakers don’t see Tim as the favourite, they favor Charlo.
“Tim Tszyu is now the favorite to win and go unchallenged.”

For his part, Tszyu is clearly relishing the chance to clinch a landmark win in the US.
“There’s no doubt I’m going to America, that’s the country I want to conquer,” he said after the fight.
“I’m not happy with his intermediate belt – I want all four and I want the name Charlo on my resume.
“I did it faster than your buddy, so let’s dance in October.”
