Tennis world rocked by shock split between Aussie star and his Melbourne model girlfriend

An Australian tennis star has broken up with his Melbourne model girlfriend after just 18 months.

Glamour couple Thanasi Kokkinakis and Hannah Dal Sasso recently quietly ended their relationship by unfollowing each other on Instagram.

The couple spent a year and a half together and maintained a long-distance relationship, as the 28-year-old professional athlete traveled extensively for his tennis career.

Influencer Hannah was last seen with Thanasi in July at Wimbledon and traveled with him for part of the US tournament season.

However, it appears the couple have finally called time on their relationship after making their debut together at Glamour on the Grid in Melbourne last March.

Hannah, who runs the designer clothing rental company Styled by Mim, says she and Thanasi met “a few months ago” and had been travelling together “for a while.”

In May this year, she revealed that she is not a fan of the term WAG, an abbreviation for wives and girlfriends of professional athletes.

The Melbourne it-girl preferred to be known for her own qualities, rather than being someone else’s partner.

“I know in football there are a lot of girlfriends who are called WAGs, but in tennis there aren’t many and you never really see anyone called that,” she said.

“I like having my own name and not being someone else’s partner.”

Hannah also discussed with the Herald Sun the challenges of maintaining a long-distance relationship while Thanasi travels the world for his tennis career.

“We’ve just had a lovely month together and I miss him already – long distance is really hard,” Hannah told the publication.

‘Thanasi is really dedicated to his tennis and he gives it his all. I am so proud of him.’

Last May, Thanasi paid tribute to Hannah after his first victory at Roland Garros, admitting that she was his “first girlfriend ever.”

‘[I’m a] “I’m a late bloomer, you might say, so I try to do that, but that comes with its challenges. But she’s been great,” he said.

Rumors of a rift between the couple surfaced late last year after Thanasi was spotted on dating app Raya, but they reportedly got back together just before Wimbledon.

Just days earlier, Thanasi was spotted at the Piper-Heidsieck Summer of Tennis launch in Melbourne, without his model girlfriend by his side.

At the time, they had not been photographed together since June last year, when they went on a double date with friends Nick Kyrgios and his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Thanasi and Hanna for comment.
