Tennessee Titans fire GM Ran Carthon days after landing first pick in the NFL Draft
The Tennessee Titans were the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft after finishing 3-14 this season, but GM Ran Carthon won’t get the chance to continue rebuilding the team.
Titans President Amy Adams Strunk announced on Tuesday that the team fired Carthon and ended his two-year run as GM.
Brian Callahan will remain as head coach, Strunk added.
‘I enjoyed the time I spent with Ran. “He is a talented football mind, a great man and a friend to everyone in his path,” she said.
“There is no denying that our football team has not improved over the last two years. I am of course deeply disappointed by our poor win-loss record during this period, but my decision also reflects my concern for our long-term future if we stay the course.”
The Titans went a combined 9-25 during Carthon’s two seasons after he was hired in January 2023.
Ran Carthon has been fired after two years as general manager of the Titans
Carthon signed an extension with the franchise last offseason and has four years left on his current contract, according to NFL Network. Ian Rapoport.
The search for Carthon’s replacement will be led by the team’s president of football operations, Chad Brinker.
In October, Carthon was criticized by Titans fans after preaching patience to supporters and saying ‘you can’t predict which direction the ball will bounce’ after a 38-point loss to the Lions.
Speak with The Tennessean Carthon encouraged fans to stay with us after the game.
“We understand your frustration,” he said. ‘We are frustrated too. But we work hard every day to get to the next one. That’s what we’re going to do.
“For us to come in and have to turn the roster around the way you have to to get it to a competitive point and not be able to see the W’s in the win column, we understand. We understand the frustration of the fan base. But I promise you we’re working as hard as we can to fix it and get it right.”
