A Tennessee police officer is being hailed as a hero after she talked a struggling 17-year-old father out of committing suicide by jumping off a bridge.

Officer Tina Shaw rushed to the Memphis I-40 bridge overlooking the Mississippi River on February 2 after receiving a call about a teenager standing on the ledge.

Shaw was on duty with the Crisis Intervention Team when he ran onto the bridge while other officers were deployed in an officer-involved shooting.

Shaw, who is also a mother of two, described the moment she helped pull the teen off the icy bridge cliff after talking to him for about 15 minutes about his difficulties being a parent.

“He was screaming for help, and I saw it in his eyes, and he was saying ‘Hey, your son needs you,'” Shaw said. WATER. ‘There is no you without him, and there is no him without you’.

Memphis officer Tina Shaw saved the life of a teen about to commit suicide. The two were seen hugging after he stepped off the ledge of the bridge.

Shaw gently approached the teen in the conversation that would eventually end in tears and a warm hug.

“I actually had to lift his leg and he grabbed my shoulder, and after he came back to the other side, we immediately hugged,” Shaw said.

She then told the teen while holding him tight, “Son, everything is going to be okay. God [going] help you get through this,” Shaw said. “Everything worked out,” and he was crying, and I shed a few tears.

Shaw has been on the force for 15 years serving as a mental health specialist. He insisted that despite horrific police-related incidents, including the death of Tire Nichols on January 7, there are good officers in the world.

“Despite all the negativity, there are quite a few officers in this department who are great,” he said.

The teen was sent to a facility for mental health treatment.

The Memphis Police Department is in trouble as 13 police officers are under investigation following Nichols’ death which occurred after a traffic stop last month.

Demetrius Haley, Desmond Mills, Emmitt Martin, Justin Smith and Tadarrius Bean all face murder charges for their part in Nichols’ death.

Police body camera footage of Nichols’ arrest, showing officers brutally kicking and beating the 29-year-old, caused widespread outrage last month.

The terrifying encounter began with a traffic stop, when several unmarked police cars surrounded Nichols’ vehicle and officers dragged him out of the driver’s seat as one was heard yelling, ‘Get the f**** out! **! car.’

After pulling the 29-year-old man out of his car, several police officers begin relentlessly kicking and punching him as he lies in the street.

He then frantically broke free, scrambling to his feet before running down the road and away from the group of pursuing officers.

An officer then fires a taser at Nichols, but later claims he was only hit by a prong, meaning the circuit was not completed and the electrical shock was not delivered.

The chase continued for approximately half a mile before Nichols is accosted and restrained by two officers, who yell at him ‘give me your hands!’

More officers then arrive on foot while Nichols is restrained, leading one to pepper spray him in the face.

Two officers pinned Nichols to the ground as he tried to free himself, then the third appears to kick him in the head.

Body camera footage of Tire Nichols being beaten to death sparked riots after it was released by the Memphis Police Department.

JaMichael Sandridge (left) and Robert Long, both fire department EMTs, were fired after failing to treat the dying Tire Nichols.

Lt. Michelle Williams was also fired following the incident, after she remained in the fire truck when it arrived while Sandridge and Long attended the scene.

Following this devastating blow, Nichols is seen slumped more fully to the pavement with the three officers surrounding him. The same officer then proceeds to kick him again.

With Nichols already subdued, the officer who used the pepper spray then extends a telescoping metal baton and yells, “I’m going to beat the crap out of him!” before hitting Nichols three times in the back.

Several officers are later seen supporting Nichols to his feet as one punches him in the face. Nichols stumbles and turns, still held up by two officers.

The officer who hit him then walked to the front of Nichols and hit him three more times, causing the 29-year-old to collapse.

Nichols is heard repeatedly yelling, ‘Mom! Breast!’ during the fight, but he falls silent after being punched in the face.

After handcuffing Nichols, he appeared unresponsive and unable to sit up.

Eventually, he was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries three days later.

Since then, six officers have been fired and the rest are under investigation.
