A 20-year-old Tennessee driver who “smokes marijuana every day” is alleged to have caused the death of his pregnant wife in a horror crash after driving while impaired into oncoming traffic.
Jonathon Jones of Luttrell was driving a Nissan Sentra on Raccoon Valley Road when he crossed into the westbound lane and encountered a Ford Expedition on June 21, according to court records.
Emergency crews quickly arrived on the scene and discovered that five people had been injured – who were immediately taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center after being “cut from the wreckage.”
His wife Casandra Jones, 28, was the only passenger in his car. Casandra and her unborn child were pronounced dead by officials, according to court records.

Jones was driving a Nissan Sentra on Raccoon Valley Road when he crossed into the westbound lane June 21 and encountered a Ford Expedition.
Virginia Brooks, one of the people rushed to the hospital, died the next morning.
Officials clarified that two other people and the suspect alone suffered injuries and are expected to recover.
Jonathon has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, improper passing and three counts of vehicular homicide by intoxication.
Authorities also said that while talking to the young adult at the hospital, he told them he smoked marijuana every day.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. A trial date for Jonathon has not yet been set
Witnesses also told officials that Jonathon was believed to be driving recklessly and passing other cars on a double yellow line before the crash.

She was described as a ‘beautiful girl, loved by everyone’ and ‘dearly missed’ obituary.
