Tenacious D offers refunds for all ticket holders as they cancel Australian and New Zealand tour after Jack Black’s bandmate made divisive joke about Donald Trump shooting

Frontier Touring has announced that all Tenacious D ticket holders will receive a refund after the band cancelled their Australia and New Zealand tour following Kyle Gass’ divisive joke about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.

The concert promoter confirmed on Wednesday morning that shows in Newcastle, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Wellington and Auckland have been cancelled.

“Frontier Touring regrets to announce that the remaining dates of Tenacious D’s Australia and New Zealand tour have been cancelled,” they wrote.

‘Ticket holders who purchased tickets through authorized ticket sales outlets will receive a full refund. A message will be sent to all ticket holders today with more information.’

Jack Black claimed he was surprised by his Tenacious D bandmate’s tasteless comments about the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

The School of Rock actor released a statement Tuesday saying he has decided to cancel the comedy band’s tour and put all creative plans on hold after bandmate Gass said he didn’t want Trump’s potential assassin to be missed.

His decision comes just a month after Black, 54, delivered a speech at a famed Los Angeles fundraiser for President Joe Biden in which he said “democracy was at stake” in the November election.

Democrats have been criticized for stoking political tensions in America by claiming that a Trump presidency would pose a threat to democracy.

“I was surprised by what was said on Sunday’s show. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form,” Black told DailyMail.com in a statement.

“After much consideration, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

Tenacious D was on stage in Sydney, Australia on Sunday when Black brought a birthday cake for bandmate Kyle Gass and asked him to make a wish.

Gass, 64, responded: “Don’t miss Trump next time.”

The audience reacted mostly with cheers and laughter, apart from a few disappointed reactions.

Gass also released a statement on Tuesday: “The line I improvised on stage in Sydney on Sunday night was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake.

‘I do not condone any form of violence, against anyone.

“What happened was a tragedy, and I am deeply sorry for my severe lack of judgment. I sincerely apologize to those I have disappointed and am truly sorry for any pain I have caused.”

Since then, reactions have been mixed online, with Kyle Sandilands even banning Tenacious D from his radio show for life following the comment.

Speaking on Tuesday Kyle and Jackie O Radio host Sandilands said: ‘So this guy wishes death on Trump.’

“A message to our talent bookers: I will no longer be participating in interviews for Tenacious D,” he continued.

“Anyone who wishes someone dead who was almost murdered, all jokes aside, it’s too much for me. Anyone who wishes someone else dead is just a piece of shit.”
