Ten things you could be doing right now to make more cash: Money expert LISA JOHNSON reveals simple ways to line your pocket with minimal effort – including watching TV

Earning more money is always welcome, but with busy lives and work commitments to manage, it’s hard to see where some extra income could come from.

Side hustles, as they are known, are a great way to increase your income, and they let you explore ideas that often require no investment or major time commitments.

There are many different options for side hustles, both in person and online, so there is something for everyone.

I’m Lisa Johnson – a global business strategist who runs That Strategy Co and helps ambitious people create passive and semi-passive income streams – that is, regular income from a source other than your employer.

I’m the Sunday Times bestselling author of Making Money Online and a 46-year-old mother of twins who went from £35,000 in debt to £16 million in just six years – and I teach others how to.

Much of what I teach is based on making the most of what you already know, and this is a good place to start when thinking about what you could do to supplement your income.

But sometimes it’s not just a matter of looking at what you know, but also at what you may already have. This can also be extremely helpful in adding some extra income.

The list I’ve put together below looks at both options and offers plenty of variety. Good luck!

1. Turn your knowledge into money

First, think about how you can turn your knowledge into something others need.

Online memberships and courses are what I know best (and have helped thousands of people around the world with), and the fact is, everyone has something others would love to learn!

If you can create a course or some form of online learning, it means that you are no longer limited by the number of hours in the day and can continue to sell your product without having to be there in person.

Remember, an expert is simply the person who knows the most about a given topic in an average-sized room, so think about what you know!

2. Run your home like a business

As a business owner, you need to know your expenses and income. Why should your home look different?

Conduct an audit of household accounts. Look at everything your family spends in a month, then check out bill comparison websites and see if you can get things like cell phones, electricity or savings cheaper or better from another supplier.

Don’t forget to unsubscribe from the products you no longer use. This way you can save a small fortune.

This is something we should all do at least once a year because it’s easy to stick with the same companies when we could make significant savings by shopping around.

3. Get paid to watch TV

For some people this might be the ultimate performance! Sign up to websites like theviewer.co.uk and join a fun research panel where you can earn up to £150 for up to six hours of your time.

It’s free to sign up and you make money by doing virtually nothing other than sharing your opinions on topics like your favorite show and new shows in development.

Prizes are also available. Pass the remote!

4. Make money from your spare room

Whether you have an attic that you don’t use or a room that you can convert into a guest room, don’t let the space go to waste.

Make the most of the government’s Rent A Room scheme, which allows you to earn up to £7,500 tax-free by renting out your home. Spare Room, Roomgo and AirBnb are just a few sites to consider.

This is a classic passive income, as your room is already there, meaning no investment is required from you.

You get paid 24 hours after a guest checks in, which means you avoid problems or scams.

5. Rent your ride

The boom in working from home means more and more people are moving further away from train stations.

So if you live near a city center, an airport, a train station or even a football ground, it’s worth renting your driveway as it could earn you as much as £350 a month.

Check out sites like Parklet or YourParkingSapce. You pay a commission

6. Make money with your free space

Earning a few hundred dollars a month simply by letting others store things in your garage, shed or attic is not something to think about.

Yes, all income must be declared, but £1,000 of it is tax-free. Check out Stashbee.

7. Get rid of old phones and technology

Every household has them; drawers of old telephones, cables, game consoles. There’s no point in just letting them sit there; you could make around £8 just by destroying an old iPhone box, or £22 for an old remote.

Sites like eBay, Facebook and Gumtree are perfect. Remember, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Moreover, you clean up at the same time.

8. Sell old Lego

Sites like Music Magpie will pay for your mountains of Lego bricks that are probably collecting dust. Payment is calculated by weight and is £3 per kilo.

While you are on the site you also pay for your old CDs, DVDs and games. Please note that they must be genuine Lego blocks and they must be in good condition.

Place it on the site using the instructions on the website and they will pay you via PayPal or bank transfer.

9. Tidy up

Be ruthless and clear out your wardrobe by taking with you all the items you no longer wear, or that you have never worn.

There are numerous websites where you can sell your unwanted clothes, from Vinted to Vestiaire Collective, covering everything from stores to designers.

Furthermore, by selling clothes online you reduce waste and extend the life of your items. So instead of ending up in landfill, your clothes can be worn and enjoyed by someone else.

10. Get out there

If you’re a fan of our furry friends, sitting or walking a pet is a great way to make some extra money.

Around 50% of British families have a pet and many want to go on holiday without their small companions.

If you are a pet person, you can also choose to sit with the cat while the owners are away, or take the dog for a walk in your spare time.

If you are a pet person, you can also choose to sit with the cat while the owners are away, or take the dog for a walk in your spare time.

Apparently millennials are currently the largest generation of pet owners, reportedly spending more than £1.7 billion a year on their pets. So if you also consider walking dogs for busy people, this is a great way to supplement your income.

I hope this has given you a few ideas, but remember that there are also hundreds of other ways to increase your income.
